Are there any cars you have owned and regretted selling?

Mine was my loyal and trusty Panda 750 FIRE Mania in Black. I miss that car :(

Has anyone here sold a car then hunted it back down to re-purchase?

Loads of them! Citroens CX, GS, Honda CRX, 2 Fiat 500s, 2 Fiat 127s, one of which I tracked down recently but it was too far gone to restore. Most of all, Alfasud Sprint which literally fell apart around me.

Plenty I was happy to see the back of though - too many to list! That's probably a new thread

Hello and welcome to the site Pandarus, You must be the chap that works with my wife at Willis, I remember photographing your tidy white Panda a few years ago, theres a few of us from Ipswich on here now, You must start a introduction thread and post a few photos of your older cars, there's lots of Fiat love on here!

As for cars i regret selling, most of them!, My red B reg Escort from last year is still sorely missed as well as my Blue E reg one too and I have days where i still had my BMW 1602 as well :(

The only time I've had a car return to the fleet for a second time is the BX Mk2.

I'm still not sure it made a lot of sense to have it back. It had been horribly neglected and is now horribly rotten as well. However, it has covered 2000 miles since it came back and reminds me how good a BX can be. The ride is lovely, the handling good, the economy excellent. I just like them! Sadly, it is destined to become a parts donor.

I'm still not sure that getting rid of this was the best idea.

Ultimate shite engine (VM diesel), horrific interior build quality but amazing off-road and very practical. I couldn't really resist when someone offered me a car with a working heater as a swap (Rover 75 diesel) as winter was fast approaching. I suspect I'm suffering from rose-tinted glasses here as the electrics on that thing had been horribly butchered (it was a converted V8) and at one stage, the interior looked like this.

I regret almost all cars that I have had to let go, except for the Kangoo, the most missed are

68 2000E Corasir, sold for £25

69 Plymouth Barracuda, sold for £300

78 Mk4 Cortina 2 door....gave it away

79 Mk4 Crayford Cortina prototype, was sold to a mate that never paid for it....so that qualifies as a freebie then

92 Subaru Leggacy turbo saloon...needed space when moving, sold for £400

now I am very sad thinking about all these.............

Same here, apart from one. A slightly pimped Volvo 360GLT I had a couple of years ago. Reason for regret was it needed welding for the MoT and I decided against better judgement just to sell it on.

F260 FHH, Fiesta Mk2 1.4 S in white/grey. A nice little sporty thing. It replaced a 1.1 Mk3 Escort, so felt like a little rocketship for quite a while after.

Fantastic little car.

H995 EBM, Mercedes 190E 1.8. The first car I bought after deciding to go back to 'old' stuff. In great condition bodily, but soon developed the old '1.8 porous head' trick, so traded it quickly. Regretted it soon after, and would love to see it again as it had the rare sportline chassis pack and the even rarer sportline four-seat interior option.

L456 HSH, Mercedes 190E 2.0. My second 190, absolutely fantastic car. In a lovely shiter's colour combo of Nutria brown with beige interior. Bought blind from ebay for £700, owned for 2 1/2 years needing only servicing, two rear springs and tyres in that time. Sold for £1200. Only sold it because another 190 I had been after for a while came up for sale. The guy who bought it cherished it, but had to sell it about a year later. He had put it up on ebay, with a damaged rear door, after an old giffer ran into it. Naturally I laid quite a few bids on it, but had to drop out, as it was starting to get a bit dear considering the cost of sourcing and painting a new door, a couple of tyres, the MOT it soon needed, etc. Was gutted though. The colour was amazing, Nutria was only made for one year, and only 4 190s are known to have been made in that colour. More disappointing is that it hasn't been taxed since, so looks like it was bought to break. I'd have had it on the road, and most likely, still be running it now...

AMA 261S. Austin Allegro 1300 Super in Antique Gold. Bought for a laugh but I loved it. It did 10,500 miles in 23 years with it's first owner. Then the girl I bought it from clocked up another 40,000 in the four years she owned it.

Hats off there.

I had a great few years with that car, then sold it to a mate of mine, who was looking for a new BL project. Apart from a few bits of giffer damage from the first owner, it was still pretty tidy and solid, needing only a bit of welding at the rear of the siils. He also replaced the lower rear quarter 'bowls' with NOS panels. It was basically ready for paint and MOT, when he inexplicably got into motorbikes, and sold it. Being into Minis ,and knowing what cocks a lot of their owners are, he tried to be careful, but the inevitable happened... Enter lying, moronic, Mini-owning, engine-raping bellend!

Seeing it engineless on ebay was bad. But twice was taking the piss. Regulars on the ebay tat thread will remember it, in primer, with the inmaculate original interior ripped out, being touted as an 'historic rally car'. Sorry AMA, loved ya....

I get bored with them pretty quick too, but there were two cars that stood out as ones I should have hung onto for longer, one was my Alfa 156 (I''d owned it for over 4 years, more than twice as long as I'd ever owned any other car and I just wanted a change. It was close to being perfect: FSH, only 60k miles, recent cambelt service, spotless bodywork, everything worked etc, why why why did I get rid??? ) and the other was an old Volvo 264GLE that I'd picked up as a sort of stop-gap from the bloke who used to fix my motors, but it ran really well and was probably the car that gave me the taste for big automatic barges.

The woman who bought if from me totalled it after a couple of weeks. :(
