Anyone want a Sirion?

I don't think I ever formally introduced this beastie here. I bought it a while ago as I'd always fancied trying one for some reason, and I've held onto it until now as I was thinking it could take over daily driver duties from the Rover of Doom when that comes off the road, but now I've got the 420 (which is better suited to my needs anyway as it has a towbar) I don't really have much need for this any more.

It's a Sirion +, and it has a 989cc 3-pot engine and a 5-speed box. It's got a few dings and scratches, a bit of bubbling on the bonnet lip, one of the Poundland trimz is missing and the aircon needs a regas, but other than that it's all good.

It's quite well equipped for a 13-year-old supermini - central locking, electric windows all round, power folding mirrors, ABS, PAS, four airbags, CD player, etc. etc., and being Japanese everything works.

It drives nicely too - it's pokier than you'd expect for such a tiny engine, and is a surprisingly good long-distance car - its natural cruising speed seems to be about 75, at which speed the engine is doing just over 3,500rpm, but it can be pushed along at 85-90 if need be. It's bloody good on fuel too - I've been getting 50+ mpg out of it.

It's done about 85K miles and is tested until the end of December, although tax is now out. Here's a couple of pics:

AS price = £300.

I've always liked these. Unnecessarily quirky, with a touch of chrome-bling about it too. Sadly too modern for my classic policy. Oh, and the wrong side of the country! Must be a good runaround for someone though.

Your not alone there + I think these are better than an early BMW Mini 8). Good luck with the sale but I dont think you need luck at that price.

That needs 'carcooning' for thirty years and revealed on ebay in 2042 as:

"' an ultra rare, barn find Daihatsu Sirion. Dry stored since 2012, only one in existence according to 'Howmany left' . £15,000. no timewasters"

Would probably be met with indifference from 99% of the motoring public, but would result in a massive 'wank-a-thon' from anyone still alive on here.

Sweet little cars, I've always fancied trying one out. They remind of the Micra and this one is obviously better equipped than my Micra. Ma_Sterling was on about getting a 4-door car so it would be easier ferrying Sis_Sterling and friends. Sadly, lack of space dictates otherwise :(

Good luck with sale.

Can't it just be wrapped in brown paper with string around it and posted to me!

Never thought those headlights did it many favours, it looks like a frog getting a surprise customs search. Any, I'd have it if I had the space for money and the spare cars to afford it etc etc

I'm also a fan of weird little Daihatsu's and that looks a bargain, I'm sure it won't hang around long at that price Wuvvum.

I do think I'll have one of these one day, a rally 4 or Storia X4 preferably.

Shame, Norwich is 120 miles from me.

I went up and erm, across and then back again to Norwich from Stockport to buy a £200 Peugeot 305 estate made of rust and piss. Not really that far if you get some kind of mingebag express train or bus.

Sirions have a three pot engine and are therefore awesome.

I also have some amazing* Black Racing wheels available for it, FWD offset and everything.

I love this car and want it but only have 6p and a fizzy chewit! GLWTS!

I have looked into it, £44.50 bus fare, 6 hours on a bus and I suffer travel sickness. I still need to get the 14 miles to Milton Keynes Bus depot from home and from Norwich bus station to the car. I then will need to take a day off work or use up a weekend day in car show season. All for a car I just want to own for the experience of it and my wife said her 1st choice is a met green one. Delivered then it’s a done deal!
