I'd really fancy a coupe and/or an Alfa GTV now that they are affordable (ish). I've never driven either, but hear that they are both good - anyone here able to confirm or deny?

Posted

Why was the R11 raced, it looks like it was okay?

Exactly!! Why would you do that?

Fiat coupes can be very good pompei,as long as the major jobs relating to the particular model have been done, what one do ya fancy?

Posted

Fiat Coupes are great 8) ,I've got a 20V Turbo but haven't really used it for the last year or so as it's a bit thirsty for my 50 mile a day commute. They're very affordable now,the maintenance costs can be high though(officially, the engine has to come out to change the cambelt). The 20V Turbo has 220 BHP,so they can be a cheap way to go fast :D

Waste of a decent project car really.

This was last week - probally in the pile now - I mean the Galaxy must be worth more?

I don't think so - this was Essex. These beast were there too (along with an un-snapped XR4i shell - big dog.)

I had the fortune of working at a fiat main dealers as a PDI inspector when the 20v coupes were new, i always couldnt decide which i'd have prefered, between a 20v turbo Coupe or an Alfa GTV.

Think these days it would have to be a Mint 20v Turbo Coupe in Sprint Blue (similar to the renault gordini colour).

Hmm looks at ebay... :D

Hmm looks at bank balance... :(

What size engine do they have? Do they have the same specs as the GTV & match it like for like?Still, I would say that both the Fiat Coupe & the Alfa GTV are strangely more common than my 146!

I'd like the 20v turbo, natch!

What's a natch?

this be my daily driver for the past few years

not the same as a gtv,the 20v turbo has a 5 cylinder engine, and the perormance figures are similar to a 3.2 24v gtv,but delivered in a different way.

this is another coop that i killed to prvide parts for my tipo sedicvalvole turbo project.

Very nice - guy at work has one that colour with the buffalo leather, loving the old skool 131 rims

Looks sweet. But why German plates, shouldn't it have 'I' ones......if at all? What size engine does the Coupe have? The same as the Sedicivavalvole? (the most complicated fiddly, not to mention unpronounceable name for a hot hatch known to man! )I always fancied a bright yellow Stilo Abarth but I take it one of these is in a different league despite being a few years older?

cheers andrewe,i preffered the black leather myself with aircon and in sprint blue, not so keen on the sunroof though, but never mind, you do forget it when this 11 year old fiat is hassling big german saloons on the mway!

here is the coupes dad, this is the one thats getting the turbo conversion, aiming for the same power as my coop,(in the region of 220 bhp)

ps just noticed somebody mentioned a sedici! great minds and all that!

i would have had italian plates if i could have got somebody to make them up,the german plates? i hate speed cameras!all uk coupes are 2.0,some 4 cylinder some 5,some turboed, some not.my blue one is a 5cylinder 20 vave turbo, the green adn red ones in my pics were 4 cylinder 16 valve turbos.

Posted

I would love a 5-cylinder one, but would happily plump for a 5-cylinder Marea or Brava/o

Posted

Didn't Fiat make a family sized car with the 5 cylinder turbo engine? I'm sure a driver at work has one as I remember him talking about it and saying it's supposed to be an engine out job to do the cambelt but there was some sort of 'dodge' for it.

Posted

You could get a 5 cylinder turbo diesel in the Marea, don't think there was a turbo petrol one though.

Posted

only uk 5 cylinder turbo is the coupe, brazil did get a lower power 5cyl. marea turbo.fiat say take the engine out,but it can be done without.

Posted

Maybe it is the four cylinder model, I'll ask him when I see him next. He raves about it by the way and says it's a fantastic car.

Loving your Coupe mate - I forgot how nice they were inside. My mate had a Turbo one a few years back and my folks neighbour (who is car daft and has a gold SD1 V8 tucked away too!)

Nice sleeper Tipo too bet that catches folk out!

I notice its parked outside MMV - do you work there or just a customer. I've been going there for years now :)

So is it only the 20v Turbo version that is anything to rave about performance wise?

You say the Tipo is the Coupe's predecessor, but the Tipo is a small family car, nothing like the Coupe!

So Alfa need their 3.2 GTV in order to compare with the Fiat Coupe Turbo 20v 2.0, that must make the Fiat a better car because it only needs a smaller engine to produce the same output, therefore being more efficient & using less petrol, yes?

Sedicivavalvole? (the most complicated fiddly, not to mention unpronounceable name for a hot hatch known to man! )

Sey-di-etch-i-val-vole-lySure an italian has the same problem saying 'sixteen valves'

Reg roll over a Tipo (and pretty much most Fiat group since) and compare floorpans with the coupe, you might be suprised.

Posted

depends hpw much power you want regie !4 cylinder coupes are pretty much identical to a tipo underneath
