Another allegro dies in the hands of muppets

On Absolute radio, Christian o'connell and his sidekick bought an allegro for an epic roadtrip from london to portsmouth to go to the isle of wight festival

they put diesel in it by mistake (set up)

and now they say the car is so beyond repair that it will be crushed live on air this morning and they reckon they will be lucky to get £30 scrap for it

these talentless wankers base their show (loosely) on the character traits of clarkson and hammond with lots of predictable set ups and corpsing

Sadly, its the way telly and radio is nowadays.

Contrived, clones like them are just a total waste of frequency/ bandwidth. If we complained, they'd just buy another one and drop a piano on it.

What a surprise, someone posted about this in the grin thread a few days ago but i expected it to have lasted longer then this. twats.

i cant understand how you could think it was a diesel? diesel dailys are a recent phenomenon

Probably because of that very fact (assuming it was an accident anyway). Tosspot probably drives his radio station liveried TDI without actually doing any thinking about much at all and automatically fills with diesel. Knowing fuck all about old cars means that he unthinkingly does the same with the Agro and then it won't go.

Even then, its a sad reflection on life today / society that its then considered scrap when all it needs is the fuel tank draining, new filters and the like and a couple of hours labour to get it sorted again.

how much effort would it take to get a contaminated a series running again? like you say. there isnt even a filter to change.

can we offer them £30 for it?

It's not Radio 2 therefore I don't listen to it. However I've just mailed them with an offer for the Allegro which is a fair bit more than their perceived scrapyard value.

Fark knows if they'll even bother getting back to me but had to be worth a try.

Sadly I think it's already dead. The end of the video posted aboved showed it being fork trucked off into the 'Shed of Death' for I assume, Decom.

I'm with you re radio pooh.

Where does this leave absolute? I can't be arsed with it, my kids wouldnt be caught dead listening to it. Someone somewhere must be listening or is it the radio equivalent of a giant ball of prairie tumble weed?

Predictable end to the farce really. Shame, looked a tidy un but I spose it entertains the pistonheads membership

What a shower of shit. I'm guessing this radio station employ 'zany'* djs who are down with the kids, yo?

*Zany meaning the biggest gobshite they could find who probably co-presents with the next biggest gobshite and they're both about as funny as a terminal illness.

Just called them a bunch of gits on their facebook page. Suggest we all do the same.

That YouTube vid has been up 2h and is getting rave reviews. Wonder how long before absolute radio pull it ? :P

They have posted a photo of it on top of a stack of cars in a scrapyard on Facebook, it's really getting a slading, and rightfully so.

Christian O'Connell is a talentless twat. At least he didn't make it down here for him to spill his bile about our beautiful island.

Said my bit on the FB page. PR disaster methinks!!

Ah, no big loss.

It's so hard to find realistic buyers for rare old cars now that I'm past caring when another old car gets wrecked. It's a losing battle trying to save old stuff, take my 604 as an example; lots of hard work has gone into saving it and now the thing is just sitting on the path irritating the fuck out of me. Offered it for sale pretty much everywhere and nobody has actually bothered coming to see it other than a couple of banger lads - and I don't know why they'd want it.

End of the day a car is just a lump of metal / glass and whatever else. If a radio DJ wants to smash it to bits then I'm really not bothered at all.

In fact, if there's a radio station or TV show that'd like to buy my 604 and smash it to smithereens / fire it into space / pulverise it / drive it to Birkenhead for charidee, please get in touch. I have given up trying to find an actual buyer for it and it needs to go soon. 'Classic' car buyers aren't interested so I'm past caring what happens to it now - as long as I get a reasonable amount of cash for it.

Otherwise, fuck it, I'll smash it to shit myself.

Fancy swapping it for a Mini Pete?

I see your frustration Pete, but I don't think it applies in this case. This is yet another car death in the name of 'entertainment' and it seems to have rightly upset a lot of people. It looked a really straight example and it's a kick in the knackers to anyone who's part of the classic scene really. It's a piss-poor attempt to emulate Top Gear and it deserves all the flack it can get. Preferably enough to give advertisers the wobbles. A radio station should be about bloody music and a bit of chat, not this stupidity.

Posted

I think this is probably part of their hoped response - more exposure for them, more traffic to their website/youtube feed/FB page. At first when I heard about this I thought it was going to be quite good, but the way it has descended into mock-TopGear style farce shows how unimaginative and talentless these people are. No doubt it will appeal to the PH crowd and VAG-worshippers, but I feel any critisism of it will be like water off a duck's back to these cunts.

Pete - there were a stack of people trying to buy it off them, even PC were

Yup, I spotted that. Just makes the lack of 604 buyers more mystifying.....

Could put an engine out of a Mini in it........

I think the death one Allegro has raised the profile of the car much more that the Radio Station, going by the replies on the Fb page. HURRAH! Also fail for Christian O'Bumhole.

"Hey, lets drive somewhere in a car that everyone thinks is shit, can't do a Marina, cos thats been done already,....need to be original on this one... maybe an Allegro? yeah!!, that will be mega funny*!!, we could stage a really zany breakdown or something and have it crushed too...AWESOME!!. maybe people will think i'm so funny I can get back on the telly!!"

What a shower of complete spaktards. Christian O'Connell? More like Cuntian O'Cuntell

Added my tuppence worth on the fb page for what it's worth ............"Never listened to this station before and your mindless vandalism this morning has ensured that I never will! If this is your pathetic idea of entertainment, I'm so glad I listen to something more interllectual."

Yes I love Peppa Pig :D

I cant stand these guys, I listen to planet rock all day at the workshop but my girlfriend isnt too keen on judas priest/motorhead etc in the morning so we get snowbastardpatrol and that welshchavbitcharsehole adele and these talentless cunts while eating our cooked breakfast in the morn

Never heard of Absolute radio or either of these buffoons. All I can say is, a pity Steve Wright , Terry Wogan and that fat bloke on Radio 1 (name escapes me) weren't in the Allegro when it was crushed.
