honda prelude: shit or shite ?

I know this is modern shite, and maybe not shite at all, but i'm tempted by a honda prelude 2.0 auto from 98 because it's a) really cheap B) close to me.

Has anyone here owned one ? What are the typically weak areas to look for ? How are they to live with ? etc...

I quite like the look of them, partly because they look like a really weak mid-life crisis sports car, i.e not a sports car at all. Also a university lecturer I had in the late 90's owned one and was damn proud of it. He'd roll into uni looking like an extra from Miami Vice, white trousers, shades, green lacoste polo shirt and loafers, and always kept the key hanging from his belt, nice and visible. I used to think he was a bit of a dude, so that could be my tribute to him.

Anyway, here's the monster:

Would. My cousin had a JDM YO! one and it was a nice motor.

I'd defo hit one, they're not a bad looking bus and probably dead reliable being a Honda.

Really wanted to have a look at it tonight but the seller's not getting back to me now. frustrating...

I'd say go for it. LJK Setright was quite a fan of the Prelude, which is surely endorsement enough.

definitely would, great looking cars and lovely to drive.

I definitely would have another, although mine was the previous shape, on a K reg, jap import. 2.2 vtec, went like shite off a shovel although I can't comment on ride quality as it was on Rayvern hydraulics.

So bummed out I missed out on this now. There's another few going for cheap on t'internet but they don't look as good or happen to be 3 miles away from my house :x

But maybe it's for the best. I was looking for a diesel / lpg barge after all. The only box this ticked was the slushbox. Still, I want one now...

When these were brand spanking new and I was looking for a first car, I sat in a red one of these with the black leather interior and wanted it more than a teenager had any right to because Dad had this notion that I should get a 'sensible Japanese car', I'm not sure he had the Prelude in mind for me at the time. Of course, it didn't amount to anything, but if a red one with black leather interior came up again, I definitely would.

Top spec leather, auto and four wheel steer.Really nice car, the only fault was an ABS speed sensor.I really liked the look of these (gen 3) cars.Great cars for very little cash.

Hopefully you can see them now.

Shame I can't see the pictures !

What folks are saying about these is encouraging me to look for one more actively. That's unless I've bought a LPG ovlov by the end of the day, which I very well might...
