My lottery win idea is to take outmoded Japanese sedan that the tooling has been sold to China and fit an electric motor and a large Lithium-ion battery. Get these made in China and flog them off to West Coast trendies - Winnah!!

Oh no, its already been done :-

I had the rare pleasure to work there last year, great fun, but Los Angeles is a complete nightmare to live in, and really expensive.

Barrett, I've had a Toledo plan in my head for donkey's years, ever since I owned my brown one. Starting with a four-door Toledo shell, we then need just the back roof section of a two-door to graft on. With a bit of surgery it should make a neat little estate. I'm thinking split-tailgate, a la A40/Range Rover/Super Minx. Mine would sit on Sprint alloys because I want it to look factory; it's also going to need the four-headlight front. Under the hood there can only be one possible choice: Stag V8 and auto box. Paint it French Blue (I had a Dolomite that colour) and trim it with black Sprint-spec interior. Sprint dash obviously and a Webasto roof. Decent upgraded suspension and brakes, tuned for a pillow ride.

Ring ring.... "Hello Chip Foose? Got a job for you buddy..."

Possibly the wrong lottery thread, but i've just found this....Is it Mr Bickle's Portuguese cousin?

If I won the lottery, every AS member of standing would get, say, £1000. However, they must spend that cash on eBay or Gumtree within 48 hours.

There's no real rhyme or reason to it, I just reckon it'd be fucking hilarious reading all the tat-collecting threads that get started when shitists are given someone else's money to spend on a car. They're bad enough at buying something sensible with their own money!

I did consider making it £1025, with the £25 going on a bottle of something or a crate of beer that must be consumed prior to looking for a car.

I'd put all the money into a suitcase.

Then I'd drop it and a list with the names of all the people who ever pissed me off in life onto the desk of a tricky lawyer and say:

Get yar fuggin arse to work.

4 ive always wanted to do:

- MK3 Orion RS Cosworth, this would be identical to the mk5 Escort Cosworth only with the 4 door saloon bodyshell, No whale tail thought, instead a Saph Cosworth spoiler, it would be 4x4 like the Saph too, running mk2 Focus RS wheels, and be painted Matisse blue (same colour as my dads Orion was) inside it'd have the same Escort Cosworth interior with black leather but have some modern touches like the Sony DAB/USB/Bluetooth/Sat Nav from a modern Ford.

- a mk3 Astra saloon in Arden blue, running Vectra VXR 2.8 V6 engine, running gear, all mechanicals in fact, 19" VXR wheels, Vectra VXR style rear spoiler and skirts, Astra GSI bumpers with the Vectra VXR diffusers on the bottom, inside black leather recaros from an Astra VXR, an again modern touches like modern VX stereo, sat nav, cruise, climate, etc

- a mk3 Astra 3 door again in Arden blue, this time with Astra VXR 2.0 turbo mechanicals, 19" wheels, GSI exterior but centre exit exhaust like a VXR, again Astra VXR recaros, otherwise like a GSi inside but with modern touches.

- Immaculate 1998 Nightfire red Rover 420 SLI saloon, tartan blanket on the parcel shelf, towbar and mudflaps, totally standard outside other than a 414i badge on the boot but MG ZS 180 mechanicals but tuned enough to rape Corsa VXRs, standard Astra VXRs/Focus STs etc inside ZS interior (no wood, black rather than grey plastics and carpets) ZS sporty seats but re trimmed in plain black cloth so they look like factory 400 ones, then I'd go doing traffic light GPs with young guys who think they are the boy because they drive like maniacs and "beat" ordinary people in their 1.4 Corsas, 1.8 Inignias etc who they are cutting up every 2 minutes and teach them a lesson.

If a mega-bucks Euro Million win came my way I'd be tempted to go even further than building my own supershite. I'd try and put supershite into production, with my own company - AS Motors.

That's what I would do, but I would choose a slightly different path : my company would be a homage to the traditional British kitcar industry !

Headquarters would be a unit at an abandoned industrial estate, somewhere in the Midlands. R&D would be by the industry leaders, messrs Paul Banham and Tim Dutton.

My plan would be to spike their tea with hallucinogenic drugs and then lock them for a week in a workshop containing ample fibreglass matting and resin, an angle grinder, an industrial pop riveter, a few sub-£300 shitters bought off ebay and a poster of a Lamborghini Countach LP400.

Posted

Taking an R8 coupe or Rover 600 and shoehorning a Supercharged KV6 into it, leaving it looking standard.

I would also take a bog standard L reg 4 door corsa, stick some rimz on it and gives it lows and STANCE and then stick it on ebay for offers mate innit.

The expensive part would be the hiring of a hit man to kill off anyone who shows an interest, it's my way of using my new found wealth to give back to the community at large.

I believe they call them sleepers - the vehicle I would have if money were no object would be a nice old motor (I'm currently thinking Amazon estate) with a really nice fast engine. Modern and reasonably efficient, but with a minimum of electronic crap. Following the experience of owning a Ssangyong Rexton, I have promised myself that I will never again own a more complicated motor than my 89 Saab.

My dream would be to buy this old disused car show room I drive past somewhere between Penzance and Falmouth (can't remember road number at mo) revamp it to include a detached house at the rear. Employ some old car mechanic and body repair guys and then spend my days driving around the UK picking up old cars I bought off fleabay classic car section, The old chaps will work on the cars training a few young trainees (to keep the industry going and provide work) then sell the cars in the show room. The cars won't be Rollers and Jags etc but cars I love from my youth that were on every street corner like Austins A30/40's J40 vans Commas, Wolsleys Fords etc. I would probably loose money but will enjoy buying the wrecks and learn how to do them up etc along with helping youngsters learn a trade.

If I caught one of the upstarts selling parts on fleabay to rip me off after being given a chance in life I would take them deep sea fishing with concrete wellies!!!!!!!

I'd have a 5.0 V8 dropped into the 190. Throw a H&R Cup kit on with R129 SL500 anti roll bars and sportline wish ones and bushes all round. SL 500 brakes with the 16" 15 hole alloys to keep it looking standard-ish. Naturally the brown paint and beige cloth interior will be staying...

There would also be a Mk2 Cavalier 2 door. In either that pale green or blue that they came in. Under the bonnet would be an ex Vectra 2.5 V6. Suitably dropped and running on dark grey sllightly banded 16" steels.

Alongside that would be a mk3 Astra sport 3 door in Pineapple yellow, similarly engined to the Cavalier. Rims would have to be dark grey turbine alloys from a late Cavalier SRi.

And, go on then, a pageant blue Allegro 2 door. With a ZR160 lump, and the shell modified to take ZR running gear. On banded steels from a Rover 400, painted cream to go with the inevitably beige interior, and modified to take Allegro hubcaps.

That'd do me.

I'd make the cars that should have been made to compete with the P5b. But not in a hot rod / modern running gear way, using period engines and equipment.

Vauxhall Viscount with a 283 and 2 speed powerglide, slightly wider steels and whiteband cross plies.

MklV Executive 289 Ferguson 4 wheel drive estate. Mustang wheels.

4.5 Daimler V8 in a 420 Sovereign .

In fact pick a dodgy old 60's barge and fit V8 that's tenuously related , job done.

Then I'd recreate my favourite 1978 Renault all model brochure in actual cars, including the Boutique section.

Maybe hammerite the sills, bung on some steel wheels and flick a bit of bird shit on this one?
