Anyone fancy swapping their motah for my 190D?

Not a bad old bus, I've done about 12000 miles in it, and it's never put a foot wrong. Went straight through the MOT last month and I put 12 months tax on. Only real bad points are a need for some paintwork (I will take some more photos), a grumbly diff and stiff seat runners. I'm mad to think about getting rid, but I fancy a change.

 

What do I want? I'm open to suggestion, but it has to be something mechanically (fairly) sound, have plenty legroom, do at least 40mpg, and be old enough not to have ABS/any other unnecessary electronix to fuck me over.

 

Suggestions of suitable vehicles for me are also welcolmed!

Wot about an unbuilt motah? Ami Super chassis (unwelded, solid) which is complete except for the fuel tank, so big pots, correct steering arms and hubs, correct driveshafts, 2 arbs, rhd Ami rack. And a GSA 1299 lump, with replaced seals on a 5 speed gearbox - about 80k. And a 2cv shell.

what is the fuel consumption of a 2.5 190.

 

My BX 16TGS Auto (one of eight left) is mid-30s fuel consumption - just passed MoT! 48k on the clock.

That's just the kind of car I'd like for my next motor..........but to make this post completely useless I don't plan on changing until after the RR Gathering

I tend to get 40, but that consists of urban short runs and high speed work on the motorway doing battle in the fast lane; I expect 45 would be easily achievable...

I think 45 is probably likely too - if you thought of a BX, let me know.

Tempted by Volvo (but too many electronics failage and more thirst than I would like.

 

Panda also tempting, it's a proper one I take it? Legroom may be a factor though....

The Corsa B has 1,050 litres of cargo space, the Panda has 630. It's not like I just looked this up on the net or anything in the hope you might be off your face on vodka and would agree to a swap by pm, which I'd use in evidence in the small claims court.

Golf TDi estate, 1997? Fresh MoT, goes very well, lacquer coming off front of bonnet. 60mpg regularly over a country commute. Would throw in 1299 flat four as a sweetener. :mrgreen:

I'm not remotely interested Billy, so don't get excited, but is it a CVT box on them?

It is a bit rusty, to say the least. Last time I tried towing it the thing stre-tched. Complete though, and an honest sale!! Think I'm gunna have to take it apart and sell the bits, no way it would load onto a trailer easily.

Will try and take some pics tomorrow. It's a good car, bought from Devon a couple of years ago, runs faultlessly, little bit scruffy depending on your pov (I think it blends in), checked the cambelt doesn't look very old, will have new frontpads if I sell it, starts on the button and doesn't use oil or water. Quite fast compared with another one I once had. Seats and ride are crap, as with all Golfs. But boredom has its upside in bangernomics.

Flippin eck. Which bit? It all looks bloody boring, it's the driving of a 2cv or Dyane with 100mph potential which is exciting :mrgreen:

Erm, excuse my thicko-ness but what does CVT mean?
