I'm back from an enjoyable day out, Mrs C was feeling under the weather so I had all 3 kids with me to give her a break.

The roads of the Midlands seemed packed with shite today, at a roundabout about 10 miles from the event I passed 2 early Lotus Elan's and a Lada Riva within about 5 cars of each other, a little later a giffer driven G reg Fiat Panda.

The road between the factory and the park was effectively shite street with all sorts of random chod parked up, heres a pic taken on the way out especially for R9UKE

yes that is an Alpine behind the Aventine :D

The show itself had a nice atmosphere, everyone seemed friendly which was undoubtably helped by the great weather. I didn't take many pics as the batterys were nearly flat in my camera and the kids were being a little unwieldy but heres a few

Hustler baby :D

Sorry to have missed the other guys who attended, I saw DW's magnificent mk1 BX in the carpark but not the man himself and I've spoken to LS on the phone.

Though this did mean that I'd seen a BX, a T2 and an 1100 (or 20) that wern't mine in the same day so that was a first

Well up for a return visit next year, the only change I would suggest to the organisers would be to give the older cars a bit more space.

Just come back too. Quite enjoyable, I saw Lord Sterling smoking about in his Rover (although I didn't know it was him at the time) and I sat in a fire engine. The day was marred somewhat by someone who had dumped a skanky old Citroen BX estate by the main entrance. Some people eh?

The weather stayed nice too!

Just got back too! Had a great day out, certainly better than I was expecting, I managed to bag a drive of not 1, but 2 Montegos!!!! plus a very clean 820Si.

I also met Dollywobbler, who got to be chauffer driven in my Sterling, albeit I didnt drive, Sam (Captain Slow) did and I followed behind in Sams Montego.

Also met RobT! Was great to meet you, Rob and few others also got to drive my car and I got to drive RobTs Montego, great car!

Catsinwelder - Sorry I missed you, maybe next time eh?

LankyTim - Sorry I missed you too! Didnt realise you'd spotted me

I didn't know it was you, I just thought "thats a nice Rover"!

Guess what... the wife now likes Rover 800's/Sterlings- especially the 2 door ones.

Brilliant!

I was driving around looking for people I recognise. I also picked up Sam and his mate to take them back up to the Montego/Maestro section.

There seemed to be people who know my name that I didnt know. Strange, but it was good to meet new faces.

Ha, thought that was you... 58mph, thats how I roll.

Were you priviledged enough to see me swing the old girl into the fast lane for the first time ever to pass a slow overtaking lorry? I was immediately pounced apon by a tailgating pillock in an Audi :lol:

The turnout was incredible, I've never seen so many Rover75/MG ZTs in one place. Loved it and the Allegro behaved itself... mostly

Another great turnout ,This event gets bigger every year, It was Great Meeting Alex G in Jasper,Jasper looks very nice with those metal plates :D

Hector Behaved well too without any Issue, :)

It's off to Coventry for Me tommrow for the Allegro Club AGM :?

Hope those who came had a great day ,If You couldn't make it, See you next year.

Matt

So it sounds like there was a mass turn out of shiters at this homage to tat and we get precisely three photos? :(

Well the Austin Se7en (and the Maxi I convoyed with) made it there and back without any hassle. It was a really good show (something akin to heaven to a BL obsessive like me) but the thing that really amazed me was the sheer number and variety of the more modern MG-Rover era stuff which clearly has an enthusiastic following of its own.

The event was one model short of the 'ADO 16 Jackpot' (one of every variety), unless someone saw a Vanden Plas that I missed?

My photos from the day are on Photobucket:

I'm a bit worried about this clashing with Coniston next year. If it does I'll have to re-think the dates, because it looks like something I should visit.

I must have missed you lord. I was parked up with the maestro and Montego lot with my maestro hle and know sam and rob.

Dammit, I must make more of an effort to introduce myself to people. Shite-stock in wiltshire seems the perfect opportunity

Thanks for the pics. Which VP was missing? the big Farina(?) type one?

I find Opaline Green Maestros like the one in your set rather arousing for some reason!

Steve, Mo was the chap who parked his Sterling up with us for a bit. One hopes my chauffeuring skills were up to scratch - it was commented when Wobbler got into the Sterling that Jesus must be a Rover fan, and if this is the case then he deserves a good chauffeur!:lol::lol:

Great to meet you too Mo, and thanks for letting me drive your Sterling, what a lovely car! Trouble is I definitely want one now

I'll get a few photos up in due course, including DI Barnaby's actual Rover 75 that was parked amongst the huge turnout of 75s.

Having browsed through the pics I wish I'd been able to get to this one, have to make sure I make it next year and pad out the Princess and Ambastador selection a little better. What was with the row of angry-mouthed Rovers on top of the hill? Unique steward showground clearing vehicles to get rid of any stragglers, perhaps?

I've only just got back home after three days on the road, and have hundreds of photos to sift through. It's going to take me a while to get any stuff up (work first I'm afraid) but I will!

T'was an excellent day and great to meet so many shite-lovers. Also slightly depressing to have missed so many other shite-lovers, but it was a big show after all, and I spent much of it tearing around trying to get work-worthy shots! Slightly annoying that everyone suddenly seemed to leave at about 2pm, but left me glad I'd spent so much time getting photos earlier in the day.
