Surely it’s just kids that have torched the Maestro. I can’t see the building being listed so it’s not going to make any difference to the site getting planning permission or not.

School holidays + flammable stuff = conflagration.

I recently found out that the green beetle that was on the site and “saved” was also scrapped.. well, turned into a BBQ as it was beyond saving.

Have any survived long?

From memory there was a Favorit, yellow Metro, yellow Astra MK2 and the 820 that all had new owners who had a go at running them. I think there was a later Rover Metro as well?

I cant find much online about any of them but definitely recall seeing something years ago, probably on Flickr which I haven't used since 2019.

The only question mark is over the yellow Metro C624LTO which remains in SORN, which is no guarantee it actually survives.

Looking back on this thread it appears the floors and sills were gone and the owner was struggling to get repair panels.

This could end up being another Ford Timelord-style investigation but instead of Datsuncog and Pieman being the lead sleuths, its Sierraman. An elusive owner with vague and distant recollections of past events. Someone creates a yellow 'tribute' Metro and the garage owner appears, takes umbrage and roller-brushes the replica white, much to the dismay of everyone.

Perhaps the garage is actually owned by the KLF, they found a wad of fifties they forgot to burn and decided to set up a garage in Castle Gresley. It’s all part of an elaborate come back?

It's work enough keeping an old car running, tracking down parts, MOTs,the almost inevitable rust repairs.... Would think getting one back on the road again after years of complete neglect is going to be nigh on impossible.Just walking the dog round the block, it's surprising how many older cars are languishing in gardens "just needing",long out of tax and MOT.I go past an X reg BMW 530i,an E36 convertible(with hardtop),a Suzuki Carry van,to name but a few.More topically,a J reg Cavalier is slowly revealing itself as the gates hiding it disintegrate.Rusty roof, rear wings almost non existent, heaven knows how long it's been there.Might even be one of the higher performance models,as it's got quite big alloy wheels and a sunroof. The stories of how stuff survives is often more interesting than the cars themselves, though.

And that’s just what you can see. The times I’ve poked at a scab and next thing you know it’s a 12 inch long hole. The back stories fascinate me though, like that Cortina that sagged at the back end.

Companies House suggests Jetberg has recently (October 25) had a change of details of the directors, not sure exactly but possibly suggesting the old guy might have passed away.

How convenient RIP to the old fella.

I do think they should have preserved the place a bit like the Acropolis or The Valley of The Kings. Kept the cars in there, opened a visitors centre, got the National Trust involved. Put some boards up and a room where they showed a video of the potted history of Jetberg Limited, a few Jetberg Limited themed rides for the kids in the car park.

I’d have probably got a Harvester and a Burger King on site as well, knocked down the houses adjacent to provide additional car parking and a coach park. Plus the toll booths to pay to get in. Could even cash in on things like Xmas and Bonfire night with displays, pop up an area for Street Food and a few Yurts and static caravans for those who wanted to make a two dayer out of it.

Perhaps get some old cars running and charge people to have a drive in them.So they could say "My dad used to have one of these"...........!

ShiteHenge.

Twice a year we go and worship there, clogging up the toilets of the nearest service station and leaving a trail of broken down BL tat around local roads.

Status Quo do a live set once a year there in June followed by an 12 hour Reggae Night hosted by Jimmy Cliff in the Miners Pub car park.
