Found out the Hot Wheels '41 Willys dragster effort

Trouble is, it seems the bag it was in has stuck to the lacquer and marked it....

Different colour dags.  For dag variety.

Probably better that sitting chipped to death forever

Leave your Willys ;) on a windowsill in the sun (when we get some). It's amazing how paint can sometimes smooth out with a bit of warmth - or maybe it's the UV. Saved a couple of my paint jobs when I've handled them too soon.

Some really nice customs there, surprised we've not seen them before

Did the dogs also end up with a blast of celly? 😅 Mercury woody is ace.

Well here it is opened up. Don't quite know where these little dudes are from but they fit a treat, clipping snuggly to the seats and dash/steering wheel

it's not the end of the road for the Fastback either, base and interior are in good shape so can go under a better body. After all, the floorpan is the ID of the car...

For now it can join the others in the battered and broken pile

This was a fastback  "customised" a while back, can't remember old it had doors or not,but it had been squashed.

It is a good job they both had hard hats on.

Yeah I think Junior may have been recreating his favourite rally scene with this one

I posted the squished one on FB and got a few suggestions as to what to do with it

I seem to recall a very similar, though differently coloured, driver figure to those appearing in my Mini Marx Chevrolet Camaro, but typically I no longer have the car and the only pic I can find is tiny...

Still, glad to hear that bits of the Fastback may live again - and has the shell actually corroded into holes in the wing, in that last pic?

That's a different car but yes - first time I've seen anything that bad, and I have cars that were literally unearthed.

That is all.

Newsflash over.

Great stuff!

What are you gonna do with your 60p (less fees)?

Posted

It was much more than 60p 😄

But not quite a fortune.

However, it does indicate that the blip in value today could become a tide very soon and we should start respecting The Days Gone

Because The Days Gone need to feel relevant too.

The 1975–77 C-Body PLYMOUTH GRAN FURY

Who Did It Worst?

IMG_3140.thumb.JPG.642ebb91fd80e1eb17b6f22681d891b0.JPG

Dinky, in the blue?  Or Matchbox, in the silver?

IMG_3143.thumb.JPG.caefb3c9a75a2cae7eb2a3ca8a3f83ec.JPG

Both tried to tackle an authentic* NASCAR livery.  Both have considerable length and girth just like the real thing.

IMG_3142.thumb.JPG.79338b8db5e59fb8a0995dfd59bb55f5.JPG

Just one has a tow hook and opening things.  However the other one seems to depict a 'gargantuan car' better

IMG_3141.thumb.JPG.200970e6f68917d913a40200d7f8485d.JPG

Despite the Dinky looking longer at the rear, they have an almost identical wheelbase.  Both measure to approx 1:42 scale

IMG_3144.thumb.JPG.c0b1dc4c7df563f561a8e8c8481e7d74.JPG

Notice that one of them would* be considerably louder than the other, having fewer exhaust silencing boxes.

I had the dinky fury police car. You could tell by the quality that dinky were coming to the end.

I rather like both, the Matchbox is probably better really but I love the ridiculous wheels on the Dinky

Here's a shite foto of my Police version

And the NASCAR (ish) version

Along similar lines, this big ol' Corgi Caprice is a great piece

I have both the Dinky and Matchbox Plymouths, but the Corgi Caprice has always managed to elude me.  I already have the White Rose Caprice, in five PD liveries, which is supposedly scaled to 1/43 and certainly looks more of an accurate model than the Corgi, but as you all know, I'm always open to something interesting at the right price... ;)

There is a caprice in police livery - but it costs ££££

Posted

The 1/18 from MCG?  I've seen those on ebay.  All in the blue NYPD livery, and all way, way, WAAAAAY over budget.

Posted

I've a Caprice in Fire livery.  That makes a dreadful noise.

Thanks for that. They are 12.5mm on the outside edge and 17mm on the inside edge. Rims are 9mm deep. If no luck,  I may have to source a set of four scalextric wheels or something.

Closest I can find, difficult to measure the inside diameter. They are very much car tyres not 4x4. You can have the three I found for postage if you want them

That would be brilliant - yes please!

So these arrived today, hot off the plane from China.

They're little triangular screwdriver bits.

Amazingly, despite all the various sets of 9mm hex bits I've owned over the years, I've never had a set of triangular section ones.

But now that means I can do this...

And finally release this from its plastic prison:

What a corker; another strong contender for Wagon Weekend, surely!
