Thanks yep seem to have the hang of it now.

Those where all made this afternoon from what was in the box that arrived this morning ( the rod was the only complete one & SD1 was one of mine).

Particularly pleased with the diplomat,

I'm not a rod fan ( muscle cars are my thing) but i do like recovery trucks (so that's the majorette pickup cut in half with the chassis from the majorette caravan a piece of Ali sheet & 2mm rivets).

Was just getting into dioramas when life got in the way ( they can take to much room up) but would like to build a dealership ( yes no prizes for guessing which).

Micro Machines are OK but I prefer these tiny Hot Wheels. I can't seem to find out much about them, especially what the range was called, so I haven't tracked many down. There is a range of "World's Smallest Hot Wheels" but it's not those

Found some links, but I expect now they'll mostly be identified as Micro Machines if they come up for sale

I was in the infants around the Micro Machines era. I don't recall having many. I also remember the little aircraft that you could put on your finger but IIRC what they were called I don't want to Google that!

I had the supervan city when it came out in about ‘91. Hours of simple honest fun there. No iPads or computers, you were using your imagination.

Can't get the replacement #3 sticker for my red Sand Cat, but I found a complete replacement - front suspension is broken sadly. Might have swap bases with my stickerless original

Gained a couple of Sikus, GT40 is nice but the Opel Record is a bit battered

The later saloon ones have ‘Park Lane’ on the rear quarter which I’m assuming is the spec.

'Full-Size' Mercury trim levels of this era, 1967–1968:

Sedans: Monterey; Mont Clair; Marquis; Park Lane; Park Lane Brougham

Station Wagons: Commuter; Colony Park

I'd love to see this become a Colony Park ?

Crack on then!

This is also shiny, it's gone well today.

Run out of stands now so no more painting today, might attack the Dinky Escort again. If it doesn't behave it's going to end up as a tribute to the ones that were around when I passed my test, odd colour panels and bits of primer

Not a lot of people (including my wife) know this but I’ve a scrapyard in the top shelf of my wardrobe. Probably where some nice clothes should live, instead a collection of dead Matchboxes live there. Found a Corgi ‘mechanic’ the other day perhaps he could be my 1/76 alter ego. But what to call him?

Posted

here are my  most recent additions.

starting with the stalled, for now Daimler SP250,this has now got paint that i'm happy with, but still lacks its steering wheel and windscreen. these were ordered at the beginning of  July, and as of now, they are still to be delivered. well nothing to do about it other than wait. it will make actually finishing the bloody thing even sweeter!

1599558598_2020-08-1909_31_31.thumb.jpg.6933271780b314ec522f6f0a70255aa8.jpg1202094954_2020-08-1909_32_32.thumb.jpg.9bcfbd6d92189598626f7d7d66accf4d.jpg1636380236_2020-08-1909_32_52.thumb.jpg.4636af0b7e0a077a1d13d53dc7ac1d1e.jpg

as is typical with Spot-ons the casting is gorgeous. hence why i have had to have a couple of goes with the paint on it.

i have also recently added this, a Corgi TK tipper. this came from a bootsale as spotted by mr armishtat. its got a busted windscreen and was missing a tyre. i found a replacement in the spares box which isn't quiet the right diameter, and now its on the hub, i cannot get it back off! it will do. i'm conflicted as to whether or not to replace the glazing unit, as to change that i'll have to take the wagon apart. maybe i will, maybe i won't, either way,its currently satin the back of this repainted lowloader.

1184913955_2020-08-1910_30_17.thumb.jpg.e5b4be2cfc848c8d26c733a322ba0056.jpg24519819_2020-08-1910_29_56.thumb.jpg.62928b8fb7c8ae9ec8a4e59534caf00e.jpg

and then on too something much smaller, the matchbox Ford Prefect bought from this very thread via Mr  tenmillsocket.

716236946_2020-08-1909_29_20.thumb.jpg.697d95097eee85e041e1439f57f40292.jpg916109897_2020-08-1909_29_28.thumb.jpg.3e696996ba2fe39d117db665c848e86a.jpg

isn't it a lovely little thing? i have a number of Matchboxes, and, though this may be a heresy, i really do prefer the earlier cars. the later speedwheels been so outsized just ruin them for me. it also came with a little resto project, this mark 2 jag.

316104889_2020-08-1909_28.53-Copy.thumb.jpg.899fc83dec5090cd59b444947d56f75b.jpg666210057_2020-08-1909_29_05.thumb.jpg.58b60ab0989ec859b1ce6b41cecc546d.jpg

its was missing its bonnet and most of its paint. the bonnet isn't a part that Steve Flowers carries, fortunately another trader on fleabay has it listed. while it doesn't fit too well, and will not open cos the hinges are too short, it does fill the hole caused by the original one been MIA. sadly though the lovely detail in the engine bay is now covered up. the colour scheme is an homage to Withnail and I.  even if i have painted in BOTH headlamps. well, it  was either that or  an Inspector Morse one, and i was keen on trying out the tin of grey paint!

then more  recently i managed to come across these 2 for sale,

first  off a matchbox Vauxhall Cresta,

1117608864_2020-08-1909_30_09.thumb.jpg.dd5d6fa829f3a5eda8c21d15090c24c0.jpg1713031584_2020-08-1909_30_17.thumb.jpg.61190cb43b3f460c56e968637332bfa1.jpg

this is a miniature of the same body style as my Corgi Velox.

DSCN8581.thumb.JPG.b9fa780c914e86f38885d7143fdf1329.JPG

so i can only assume that the name is more like a  trim level rather than a different model, like fords "3 Graces" the Consul, Zephyr and Zodiac? if that is so, then were Vauxhalls the Velox, Wyvern and Cresta? some knowledgeable  person will i'm sure will know !

its had a hard life, but still looks lovely in its 2-tone paint.

and i also found this, a pre-budgie toys Wolseley 6-80 police car. its pre-budgie cos the base plate is spelt "Wolsely"! this one is spotless, really, really spotless! some one has it seems really loved it. and now it will be loved by me! hard to think that these tidderly little toy cars both date from the mid 1950s, making them 65 years old!

1081581407_2020-08-1909_29_46.thumb.jpg.2a88a2f7ea039f7f53a70bb13aaa224d.jpg6547053_2020-08-1909_29_54.thumb.jpg.884a2a7ac50959a3bc547dc20b36385f.jpg

is that why we collect these things? maybe,,,,,

thing is, these new additions are filling up the display case to such a level that it looks like even more trains will up been evicted. an excuse,  as if one was needed to buy another cabinet!
