Hongwell make Abrex brand Skodas, and many of them are almost on a par with Minichamps. I've found that quality is really starting to slide on Minichamps too, and the price has just gone crackers

Yo. Talking of Abrex Skodas, I was in my local Penny market (cheapo supermarket) today got found these:

Packs of 3 1:72 scale models for 129 Crowns - £3.70!!!!

So basically £1.23 per model :-)

I am keeping the 120s and the Fabia but I'm not bothered about the Octavias so if anyone wants them I'll be back in the UK next week and can post them.

If they're popular I 'll go back and buy all they have on the weekend and bring them to the UK.

Let me know if anyone wants the Octavias or anything else.

That just isn't on.

When I was in Prague earlier this year I was literally leaving no stone unturned in the hunt for bargain models. Eventually I bought this...

...in the very wondrous Prague Technical Museum. Worked out about seven notes, but still significantly cheaper than anywhere else I had seen. I did find one place, a specialist model shop which had a big basket of IXO partwork stuff, but they were like a fiver each.

Anyway, at least I got a brown one.

Oooh, please bring some back! I've been wanting some of these, especially the Estelles, for ages but the prices over here are just silly.

Abrex stuff seems impressive for the money. I bought a Superb-loving friend a 1:43 of theirs and I thought the seller had sent me a re-boxed Minichamps instead.

What's the craic with those Atlas 1:43 Volvos? There's variations of those that haven't appeared under any other manufacturer but are clearly re-packaged Neos. WhiteBox and Atlas do P1900s in different colours that are obviously based on Neo's moulds.

Ah, I've only just spotted that RedSparrows haul says 1:72 on it. My Abrex 120L is a 1:43. It's spot on. Not in the Hornby Tri-Ang sense.

Posted

Yeah they're the little ones, but I'm still pretty pleased as normally they seem to be about £4 each.

I may be in slight trouble with my other half.

She knew it was on the cards, so shouldn't be too surprised... I asked my dad to get all my old 1:18 scale cars down from the loft so I could transfer them to Roadwork Towers, and very obligingly he did.

Problem now: WhereTF am I going to put these?

They'll be going in my own loft after I've finished looking at them again, haven't seen most of them in eight years or so.

When I still lived with the 'rents my bedroom was lined with shelves and all these were on display. It was like living in a branch of Beatties.

Fantastic.

The Mondeo and Scorp are both Minichamps, the Mondeo had a missing mirror and has a missing exhaust tailpipe. Found a spare mirror in my stash of spare bits, so now looks much better. Puma is a Cararama, I think the front looks a bit too fat on it. Got all 3 for under £20 because they are unboxed

Doesn't qualify for pre '68, m8... and anyway, it has to keep my '69 Plymouth Roadrunner company.

I had the silver Hummer and a Smart car during a brief venture into 1/18 when I was younger, the Smart ended up with a mixture of red and yellow panels. I also remember a 1930s Merc, a Megane cabrio, an Alfa Spider and a Spitfire - I was very annoyed when I managed to break the windscreen off the latter and did even more damage trying to fix it. Nowadays I've moved to the other end of the size spectrum and collect 1/72 and 1/76 as they take up much less space.

Abrex is very good for the money. Quality is bob on. We get through loads of them, the range is virtually every Skoda in virtually every colour and they are exceedingly popular.

Don't know about the Atlas Volvos however, I'd be surprised if they were based on Neo.  Neo being resin use (apparently) silicone moulds for the models whereas the diecast stuff is a proper metal mould (or whatever they are).

Whitebox comes out of the same factory in China as IXO and uses the same castings. The same castings can also be found badged as RBA and Altaya (for IXOs partwork stuff) as well as one or two others.

I suspect the Atlas Volvos are made by Ixo looking at them, quite a few are turning up with the HK sellers at reasonable prices, same goes for the SAAB's

I want the Volvo 440 and 360 plus the Bertone 262 at least from that least

Marty, I literally HATE you for getting your hands on that Scorpio before I did! If you got it from who I think you did, he has a fantastic collection. Swapped him 3 1/18 for some of his 1/43rds and I must say I'm very pleased with what I got!

You aren't the only one who's a bit peeved with what I just got from a certain person in Scotland, who goes by the name of a former Italian model company. He really wanted the Mondeo and Scorpio. I got in double quick when I saw what they were

I've not seen a Minichamps mk1 Mondeo in ages as well, seen a few mk2 estates knocking about, which was why i jumped at the chance of getting one. it's now been given the FM refurb, with a new back box and mirror, and a wheel repaint as they silver was wearing off :) Photos later on :)

I have 2 saloons, one blue and the other is a touring car. They do seem hard to come by, especially in a colour other than citron.
