Well, there was the 2.8 V6 version that would sprint to 60 in 9 seconds, even through that 3 speed automatic box.  The same motor was beefed a tad more in the Chevy Citation X-11 as well.  We forget... in 1982 'we' still had the Morris Ital.

Point taken though - am also glad Majorette were bold enough to model it.   Two examples here, each fitted with a different wheel set, increasing my separation-anxiety when it comes to slimming-down the collection

Then the Hot Wheels Chevrolet Citation X-11 just HAD to get in on the action, being a sister car an'all

Majorette stated 1:75 scale underneath.  The Citation is a few scales smaller, so moved it about a bit to fool the camera

I really liked the Majorette Omega they captured the shape really well. Had very springy suspension that as as a kid was cool for making it look like it was cornering hard if I recall correctly.

Didn't get number plates until 1903, and there's some dispute over A1 or DY1 being the first

Wow. Those bring back memories!
I had the blue one as a child. Was stolen from me by a kid at school.

I have the Citation in my Hot Wheels collection.

I think I may have that now, the whole bodyshell is warped. Not with zinc pest, just poor quality!

Weirdly, both my burgundy Jag and the white one that I think @FakeConcern now has, are OK. Although the bonnet has never opened very far on any example I've owned.

I think there was a knack, it lifted up THEN hinged. The Rolls Royce was pretty good quality though IIRC.

Rolls Royce

I have one of those, it's as heavy as a white metal model made by one of those old boys in their spare room.

It’s quite excellent isn’t it. I’ve still got mine in the box.

Strip paint in seconds with pure dichloromethane... get it online  ,  stings  like mad if you get it on your skin though .

Toxicity
Serious health risks are associated with DCM, despite being one of the least toxic simple chlorohydrocarbons. Its high volatility makes it an inhalation hazard.[26][27] It can also be absorbed through the skin.[1][28] Symptoms of acute overexposure to dichloromethane via inhalation include difficulty concentrating, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, headaches, numbness, weakness, and irritation of the upper respiratory tract and eyes. More severe consequences can include suffocation, loss of consciousness, coma, and death.[1][28]

DCM is also metabolized to carbon monoxide potentially leading to carbon monoxide poisoning.[29] Acute exposure by inhalation has resulted in optic neuropathy[30] and hepatitis.[31] Prolonged skin contact can result in DCM dissolving some of the fatty tissues in skin, resulting in skin irritation or chemical burns.[32]

It may be carcinogenic, as it has been linked to cancer of the lungs, liver, and pancreas in laboratory animals.[33] Other animal studies showed breast cancer and salivary gland cancer. Research is not yet clear as to what levels may be carcinogenic to humans.[1][28] DCM crosses the placenta but fetal toxicity in women who are exposed to it during pregnancy has not been proven.[34] In animal experiments, it was fetotoxic at doses that were maternally toxic but no teratogenic effects were seen.[33]

In people with pre-existing heart problems, exposure to DCM can cause abnormal heart rhythms and/or heart attacks, sometimes without any other symptoms of overexposure.[28] People with existing liver, nervous system, or skin problems may worsen after exposure to methylene chloride.[9]

This is what's missing in Nitromors these days .  Safer then petrol too , as it doesn't  ignite :-P.  I bought 5 litres , unfortunately i left the lid off , and a lot  evaporated . Really quickly  .  I   expect more people die from fatness,  fags , and  sepsis,   and get  blinded from wires from wire brushes.

It was never registered and has only worn race event numbers.

It has been with the Science Museum London since 1910

If a build / sales record could not be produced it would get a suffix plate I think.  But I bet they could in this case as the car was a personal import, then went into the hands of the RAC, which donated it to to the museum.

DVLA refused to allow the original plate this was wearing when barn found, as they had no record of the plate issue.  There was no logbook or tax disc in window either, to prove the plate was issued to the car.  So they issued an age-related plate of their choice:

So, I had a car that had on its V5C: '2005 Vauxhall Victor declared manufactured 1965'

Went big charity shop, saw these Majorettes.  £2 each they were.  I thought BRILL I'll buy them both quick, even though I've still got my childhood Majorette VW Golf that is in red colour.  Never owned the Porsche 924 though.

But no.  Something is wrong here.  Can you work out what it is?

Found something I didn't know I had.  Matchbox Dodge Daytona

20250217_205230539_iOS.jpg.ad65364bfd57978871f089a04afebcdf.jpg

Thought I'd photograph it next to the Motormax Dodge Omni.  Then realised they are not actually related at all....   the Omni platform went into the Dodge (Omni) Charger, not Daytona.

This is a PlayArt (I think?) Dodge Omni 024.  Been repainted and not at all well.  Has casting breakage too.  But you can see the similarity confuses.

What does the (typically hilariously illegible) printing say on the box to tell us what model was originally in there?

Good news (if you're me): seems that B&M are restocking with 2025 Matchbox mainlines.

Which means that there are now a load of new releases to sit alongside all the 2023 ones they still haven't managed to sell.

IMG_20250218_1643522.thumb.jpg.f6a8a2449f619288ca778bb91a5e119c.jpg

At £1.79, they're also cheaper than those to be found in some branches of Poundland (£2) or in Tescotainer outlets (generally £2.40, though £1.80 if they're still doing those buy-one-get-one-half-price dealz).

It also means that I now have more stores on my list to neurotically rifle through whenever I'm passing.

To celebrate, I picked up the recolours of the Mercedes CLA wagon, and the '41 Plymouth Coupe - chiefly in the hope of ensuring B&M continues to bring in more new Matchbox cases in the future.

IMG_20250218_1829392.thumb.jpg.2852ecb92da19756910fa8e11a256121.jpg

I took advantage of a lot of very stale Hot Wheels dangling on the pegs in the Rosemary St branch to finally secure an original 2023 release of the '72 Stingray with the trans-o-lite style headlights - because when I finally got my arse in gear to pick up the red (3rd release) version last year, to my chagrin I discovered the working lights feature had been deleted.

What's that, Sooty?

sooty_matthew_corbett.jpg.6ec7678d9a8d0c49dfca46339a7b4cb7.jpg

Why yes, I am questioning my life choices. However did you guess?

I always thought the Nissan 300ZX was quite a good HW casting from the 80’s.

Now that is one I don't have!  Hurrah!  Cured.

This Majorette Nissan 300ZX Turbo is fitted with the wheels inherited from Novacar.  Perhaps the casting was originally Novacar - will have to dig out that Majorette catalogue with Novacar section in the back
