I dread to think how many variables of US Van there are.

It's an awful situation to get into, collecting those things.  These are still here but most have gone now

IMG_3034.JPG

....because for my sins I upgraded to the 1:36 variations!

You find yourself trying to find better examples of what you already have, and this is what happens

Most have now gone thankfully, but I still twitch

For the Corgi Juniors, the golden find (probably) is the one that was only sold in the James Bond 007 'Spy Who Loved Me' Gift Set: The JAWS van.  eBay seller wanted £10 for this, loose.  Didn't sell (despite my offers), so he stuck it back on as auction.  And I got it for £1.90 !  I know he wasn't very happy.

In the film, the Jaws character really drove a Sherpa.  But surely the glamour would be lost on an 8-year old!

I was sorting my Juniors yesterday. I think I have over 30 different Chevrolet/U.S. vans, and 26 Rover 3500s, all different. Sierras and Buick Regals aren't far behind

Took delivery of a box o' Matchbox too

Finally got one of these grit trucks with the little tab that pulls out intact

Mainly I was after this Cortina, as it's the unusual combination of raised bootlid surround on a brown regular wheels casting, it changed to this from recessed just before the start of Superfast production. I'm still sore about the very tidy one I won on eBay just as the seller was abducted by aliens, never to be heard from again

Something odd has happened to a wheel, the axle is nowhere near the centre. Maybe it came off and someone hammered it back on?

I’m not actually sure what scale it’s made to? Kind of looks 1:43ish but does anyone know? @flat4alfa?

The Dinky #141 VICTOR ESTATE is to 1:48 and that is what I measure it to.

The Matchbox Lesney #38 VAUXHALL VICTOR ESTATE CAR measures to 1:67

Sidney from Sparta wanted to show his collection of Vauxhall Victor FB Estates.

WP_20250215_15_25_12_Pro.thumb.jpg.201ed70e28d70aa20d9c02cc6b99f7cc.jpg

The blue one is to 1:30 scale and in plastic, made by NFIC Hong Kong

WP_20250215_15_25_31_Pro.thumb.jpg.fe0b2c1ae8192dff08c609c4768c55d3.jpg

The Dinky example has been repainted in a nearer mustard shade.  The Lesney is in its original, and quite thickly laid, yellow paint.

WP_20250215_15_26_38_Pro.thumb.jpg.70fb01a511061a054f29cf3a0bc718a7.jpg

Notice the NFIC is the only one with Fuel Flap DELETE.

WP_20250215_15_26_07_Pro.thumb.jpg.dd17b9a7a39879006b9fd847509560d7.jpg

All have OPENING TAILGATES.   The Dinky stays up ; The Lesney refuses to ; The NFIC had its one go missing in Rotherham, after a skirmish during the night with The Persians led by Xerxes I.

It would be interesting to know how many variations there are in total, taking into account grille types, wheel types,& interior colours. Also,if there are any colours I don't have,I'm sure I've seen a picture of a silver one 🤔

The ones to get hold of are the Clifford Victor FB Estate (1:24ish)

Also the Frog Victor FB Estate (1:18) in kit form.

I’ve got one in the garden, it was rough so I placed it under a bush with some others. I know I’m odd… 🤣

I wouldn't worry, I have an "abandoned" Matchbox no.34 VW Camper in the plant pot of a cactus in my bedroom

I once made my own version of Cadillac ranch in a flower pot but using old Corgi & Matchbox American cars half buried and sticking up in the air!

After a while you will become one of us that  when you see a gap between the juniper you’ll think ‘a bit of horticultural grit and that would make a superb track for a Superkings Scammel tipper truck’

Well keep me in mind! Haven't got that one - there are more than I realised although I've not seen a comprehensive list of them yet

Sure will. Have you got the supervan II ?

In other news:

Just when you thought you had them all...

I'll have to get the GTraffic together. I didn't set out to get them, just picked them up now and then. I reckon that the only clean ones I have are the Ford SV2 and a VW transporter. I spot them as I've always got an eye out for adtrucks blanks which are also mainly white.

So far I have

Matchbox Land Rover Ninety Matchbox Vauxhall Astra GTE Opel Kadett GSI Matchbox Ford Transit Matchbox Porsche 959 Matchbox Ferrari Testarossa Matchbox 25 Ambulance Matchbox Dodge Dakota Matchbox Nissan Prairie Matchbox VW Transporter Ambulance Graffic Traffic Matchbox Dodge Challenger custom

That last one I didn't actually know was a Graffic Traffic, so it got customised

Matchbox Dodge Challenger custom

Almost all the others are either stripped for paint or repainted. Once they're done I might start on the Specials versions

Matchbox Specials Graffic Traffic Ferrari 512 BB Matchbox Specials Graffic Traffic Ferrari F40

Oh... the 'specials'. Trying not to get any of those simply because this hobby has been out of hand for me once already, so I am strictly limited to a certain type of release, 1-75 SF up to the orange box stuff. Odd bits still find their way in though! MB One offs, pre pro, trials, HTFs... that's kind of where I'm at, and to find an unused Graffic Traffic is a nice thing to have 🤩
