Some more French French Dinkys

A trio of Peugeots

DSCF6498.thumb.JPG.3c5b806af3adc0aad6415357b9cb47c6.JPG

First is a 402 Taxi.

DSCF6499.thumb.JPG.dba6cf7b99380264045b1d92d59ab4c8.JPG

The is a representation of an early Dinky with metal wheels and tyres.

DSCF6500.thumb.JPG.1309170551b5448963b07da9b460f792.JPG

Next is a basic 403 in black. The silver details are far more crisp than the originals would have been.

DSCF6501.thumb.JPG.3a317a7c59a2817331866d4f577f65f9.JPG

No glass or interior.

DSCF6502.thumb.JPG.4b34521a99719ce992bf736562a1c461.JPG

Peugeot Van with Mazda Lamps sign writing.

DSCF6503.thumb.JPG.ddc27bf6bb14023c1ccdd3e8a8d0396b.JPG

It was a brand set up by General Electric well before those chaps in Japan started making cars. Again no glass or interior to be seen here.

DSCF6504.thumb.JPG.cca3c1c07f3795b0e7889828b7248043.JPG

This is one of the best from the models I won the other day.

DSCF6505.thumb.JPG.ed713987bcc58996faf1e7169abfa73b.JPG

Included in the box was a free road sign.

DSCF6506.thumb.JPG.ffddd6f5ebbd7d0f47c07d8065189d5c.JPG

The blue is a bit of a dull colour for this. A pale metallic blue or green would look far better. Separate head lamps, moulded detail in the windscreen and number plates lift this to a better level than the earlier Dinky Toys. This era was peak French Dinky.

DSCF6507.thumb.JPG.6ab9b72af07b0e3758cd33ec422f3a1e.JPG

Detailing is great though.

DSCF6508.thumb.JPG.3d28c2ea4ed6e04c5e67fa4cc01b4b2b.JPG

And the paint has a deep shine.

DSCF6509.thumb.JPG.1f088538a36512161d4d9003d971df37.JPG

Last we have the only Renault of the bunch, a Floride avec suspension et glaces.

DSCF6511.thumb.JPG.4d0232b9d11c91dc74b9ed55905ca76e.JPG

No the bet colour to show off the lines of the car, maybe a dark red or gold would be better.

DSCF6512.thumb.JPG.7fcc08733a8f1a44132fef9bace02fb9.JPG

Nice detail on the back.

From the shelves, this Jimson (Hong Kong) Vauxhall Victor FC 101 decided to show itself off.  Danny the Zulu popped straight over for a nose.

20210524_150953971_iOS.thumb.jpg.78e3c8c849e2a145fdbec25a5b530d84.jpg

He observed it has an opening thing :

AND A DAG !

20210524_151021991_iOS.thumb.jpg.55ceef037bfd1c43aaf91d9504cd65e2.jpg

Also the missing the rear bumper.  He commented the Victor 101 has not been modelled by many firms, so that would limit A Who Did it Worse comparison.  However the Dinky Victor 101 turned up in the nick of time:

20210524_151505496_iOS.thumb.jpg.dbbb83705dedd8247294ca7bdc9a2a7c.jpg

It seems Jimson did a best-effort copy of the way-too-wide valve cover from the Dinky !

20210524_151441961_iOS.thumb.jpg.3b5188f424f66346e6d3d09d10267a3e.jpg

The Dinky Victor measures to 1:43 scale.  The Jimson Victor measures to 1:30 scale

This was my old Victor Estate, owned 2005-09 :

40p equivalent when the Dinky Pontiac Parisienne was launched in 1969 had the same purchasing power as £5.70 in today's money.

Still seems pretty good value considering how good those Dinkys were, though not that cheap!

For the Corgi Juniors, the golden find (probably) is the one that was only sold in the James Bond 007 'Spy Who Loved Me' Gift Set: The JAWS van.  eBay seller wanted £10 for this, loose.  Didn't sell (despite my offers), so he stuck it back on as auction.  And I got it for £1.90 !  I know he wasn't very happy.

CB4A16A4-8E7F-4415-9C97-86F2B7015CA0.jpeg.cbfd35a92c6fa4d13152647091dae819.thumb.jpeg.a8fd250b7cf74c9d8b5cb4002e2a78ad.jpeg

In the film, the Jaws character really drove a Sherpa.  But surely the glamour would be lost on an 8-year old!

Mainly I was after this Cortina, as it's the unusual combination of raised bootlid surround on a brown regular wheels casting, it changed to this from recessed just before the start of Superfast production. I'm still sore about the very tidy one I won on eBay just as the seller was abducted by aliens, never to be heard from again

The Dinky #141 VICTOR ESTATE is to 1:48 and that is what I measure it to.

The Matchbox Lesney #38 VAUXHALL VICTOR ESTATE CAR measures to 1:67

Sidney from Sparta wanted to show his collection of Vauxhall Victor FB Estates.

WP_20250215_15_25_12_Pro.thumb.jpg.201ed70e28d70aa20d9c02cc6b99f7cc.jpg

The blue one is to 1:30 scale and in plastic, made by NFIC Hong Kong

WP_20250215_15_25_31_Pro.thumb.jpg.fe0b2c1ae8192dff08c609c4768c55d3.jpg

The Dinky example has been repainted in a nearer mustard shade.  The Lesney is in its original, and quite thickly laid, yellow paint.

WP_20250215_15_26_38_Pro.thumb.jpg.70fb01a511061a054f29cf3a0bc718a7.jpg

Notice the NFIC is the only one with Fuel Flap DELETE.

WP_20250215_15_26_07_Pro.thumb.jpg.dd17b9a7a39879006b9fd847509560d7.jpg

All have OPENING TAILGATES.   The Dinky stays up ; The Lesney refuses to ; The NFIC had its one go missing in Rotherham, after a skirmish during the night with The Persians led by Xerxes I.
