Right, I have now finished leering at Mr Impala's Spot-Ons and I am now rubbing my trousers over the Teknos.....

If I subscribed to Sky I reckon I could save a month's fee just gazing at that cabinet....

I haven't found a Toledo either, Iain; I had the real thing 36 years ago and I've been looking ever since. You'd need to modify either a Vanguards Dolomite (but the boot's too long) or an old Dinky Triumph 1300 (but the nose is entirely wrong). There's a 1300 in my Projects Box waiting for me to devote some time to it...

59Impala: blankety blank!

I think you have answered both our questions! Make it so :)

Just got back in having had a good evening listening to ex-racing driver and team owner John Fitzpatrick at the Bourne Corn Exchange although I was disappointed that there was no corn to be exchanged. Good bloke and signed four of my racing models for me so I'm in a good mood and you may have some more pics to send you off to sleep.

I don't think I have ever actually SEEN a Spot On Wadhams ambulance and there are THEE there AND the Mulliner coach....

Some folk dream of their lottery garage, well that's mine right there.   Not full size, just those.

That last pic looks like the parking garage for ITC Productions, circa 1965!

Mr 59Impala has won Shite in miniature, he appears to own all the models I've ever wanted and some in duplicate. I bet the bugger even has Claudia Schiffer polishing them!

As you probably know the Wadhams ambulance is pretty rare and expensive. However I've cheated a bit. The tatty one is a genuine Spot-On but the other two are copies, not sure who does them. I paid 40 quid I think for the ark blue 'St Johns Ambulance' one from Ebay a few months ago. The Mulliner coach is genuine but although it wasn't cheap it was a good price for a pretty nice one so I couldn't resist it. I've wanted one since I was a lad but they were always rare and expensive (for my parents) so this one was too good to let go. Another confession a fair amount of my Spot-On's are repaints but I don't care. I'll try and post a few more piccies on Sunday after the Grand Prix.

Nothing wrong with Spot-On repaints.....I don't bother with run of the mill stuff which I prefer original.   Paint on Spot-Ons was never the best anyway and usually fell off like a Silver Fox Mk2 Cortina!

Never mind the Spot Ons, I have them up and down the menu myself, including the Royal Royce.

It's the Politoys that give me soiled knickers.

Aye, and if that Dinky Gift Set is the Goodwood one I will probably do the same.....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there also appears to be an Edil Toys Alfa 105/115 and a Märklin Ford Osi.

Apart from the Politoys Corvette Rondine, Ferrari 250 GT Lusso and Opel Admiral, that's all.

I set myself the rule I have to own/have owned or had it as a company car for it to join my model collection, that has keep my model collection to a manageable size, unlike the real thing!

Back at the beginning of May I purchased a real Lancia Gamma Berlina and a local model supplier in Brackley has been canvassing me to supply my models. I contacted him and he said he could get me one at what seemed like a reasonable price so I ordered. I waited weeks and then was told he had mistakenly ordered a Beta in spite of my order being in writing and pictures of the real car emailed. He then said he could get me the Gamma but at twice the price. All along I could have one bought in from Italy at only a little more than his first price. I am still waiting for the refund 11 days after he agreed to do so.

The good news is the one from Italy has arrived in good condition.

My next dilemma is I have bought a real 2002 Skoda Octavia hatchback in white, the only MK1 models I can find are estates or rally cars. I have found a white Mk2 which to the untrained eye is a much better representation of my car at a glance. Which should I get?

Aye, and if that Dinky Gift Set is the Goodwood one I will probably do the same.....

It is the Goodwood  Gift Set and I've owned it from new. My nan gave me Co-Op tokens for Xmas when I was a young wee thing, think it was 10 bob's worth i.e. 50p. I was in the Co-Op in Woolwich and saw the gift set but it was more than 10 bob and my mum wouldn't give me the extra. However I told the staff person that it was obsolete and should be marked down. Amazingly that ploy worked and it came home with me! I have to confess that I painted the MGB black so I've just bought a replacement plus I also had a habit of painting the underside of my models black for some reason, guess it was underseal, lol. The figures aren't in the box but I do have them somewhere.

It's actually a Politoys Alfa 105, had it from new. The Ford Osi I bought recently from Ebay (which I cannot get to open today for some reason) and it was about 20 quid mint and boxed. Foreign models were really hard to find and expensive back in the 60's and early 70's, I remember that my local model raceway shop, Eltham Models, had quite a few but they were about three or four times the price of a Dinky so I really had to save to buy one. I also recall a family day trip to Calais and I bought quite a few French Dinky, Norevs etc and sort of smuggled them back into Blighty much to my mum's concern.

Oh, and never mind the Gamdakoor Sabra yanks.

They used to cost 99p each and I had a job by then so was able to buy them as and when funds allowed.

So when are you opening this museum to the public?

Visitors are welcome by appointment, lol. I have no problem letting people enjoy the collection as I do if it gives them pleasure. I need to get more display units though as I do have rather more stuff especially Yanks and racing cars. And some Japanese and Aussie models. Just takes time and pounds.
