Found it.  The (what I now know is) Norev Jet Car Peugeot 504 Rallye body shell.   So, not the Solido after all.  Forgot this was tucked away until posts earlier

The Norev Peugeot 404 popped over for a chat

Just noticed 404 plate is from this part of France, Département 69, Rhône

Also noticed I have no other 1:43-ish Peugeots to offer.

The Opel does say 1:41 underneath, so they weren't going for 1:43 in the first place, to be fair

THEREFORE CORGI WINS!  It is approximately 5% too small.  So in this company looks even weedier.

FOR SALE

If anyone wants one of those Gama Opel GT models I have three dealer versions going spare. These were made in Bulgaria  and sold through Opel dealerships. I got mine (a batch of 5) at a Vectis auction about 5 or 6 years ago.

Only one has been out of it's box (to take snaps). These are as new. If you don't like the colour they can be dismantled easily as the base is held with one phillips screw.

I am after £10 including RM Tracked 48 postage to a UK address. If you want one just send me a pm so I can send you Paypal email.

According to the blurb most were in the Marmite chrome gold or silver finish, and the plain gold is a bit of a rarity. All the more pleasing then, that my original is in just that finish

While rummaging in the loft, I also found my original Thames Airborne, so that got compared to the young upstart too

I know there were grumbles over the colour on this one,  my only note on both this and the Hawk is different styles of rivet - but having read the piece on the challenges of recreating these cars to look as original as possible, while adhering to modern standards etc, I'm happy to accept this small difference

Not sure what the grumbles were about, but these are the ones back here.

Both are originals not repaints.  Reckon they released two greens and the reproduction is one of those greens.

There is one of those back here, suffering from an identical weight-reduction technique.  Or should that be atmospheric-engine-cooling technique.

WP_20231004_17_43_09_Rich.thumb.jpg.4cce62fe3d56b19392d32dfb3acfb5d3.jpg

Admiral Ackbar stopped breakdancing for a moment to explain that the one to left of it was restored some time ago using sparkly paint from Wilko.  Back when we had a Wilco.

WP_20231004_17_44_09_Rich.thumb.jpg.e8c43fe5a599b5d177fb431cf559011c.jpg

He also wanted to emphasise the scale difference between the later 'opening things' Dinky Phantom V and the earlier 'fully-sealed' Dinky Phantom V, which is more in line with the scaling of the Silver Wraith next to it.

The Spreadsheet was fired-up again.  Due to the variable wheelbases for the Wraith, leaving Crewe as running chassis only, I determined the Dinky was modelled on the Park Ward Limousine body and used those dimensions

Screenshot2023-10-05192809.thumb.png.c08f5bbe264820e252489461774ab318.png

So we can see Dinky preferred 1:48 then moved on to 1:43 by late sixties

Dinky 150 Rolls Royce Silver Wraith, produced 1960-64.  Earliest production did not have glazing.
Dinky 198 Rolls Royce Phantom, produced 1962-68
Dinky 152 Rolls Royce Phantom, produced 1968-77

Strange that the Rolls should be 1/43 as I thought he said the idea was to make smaller cars bigger and bigger cars smaller if you see what I mean! Also not on the same page he claims both the Rolls and the Sting Ray to be the last Golden Jacks model!
