With the 1:43 recovery trucks..... There was a nice Norev Peugeot Boxer a couple of years back and IXO did a Citroen H in their regular range and as a partwork. Couple of Premium Classixxs models (VW T2) as well.

PIcked up this older Vanguards Top Hat Avenger Super today from a shop in Stowmarket for a lot less than sellers on ebay want.

The 2 door I got quite a while ago from an ebay seller in China, they still turn up from time to time, but aren't cheap any more

Posted

It's like a drug is collecting diecast shite, 3 more added today, one wasn't cheap at £30 from egay, but the other 2 were, A Minichamps Ford Capri mk2, and 2 Vanguards police cars, an Essex Plod Marina 1.8, and a Met Plod Sunbeam. The Vanguards were a bargainous £6.50 each! Got em from an auction house's shop in Felixstowe, had a bit of diecast in, including Vitesse Renners and Toyota Corolla bug eye hatch at well under £10 each. Looks like Arthur's been a naughty boy :P

The Vanguards Marina was when they really started to make some fine little pieces. I got the Teal 1.8 version when they came out in 2001 and it's a smashing colour.

Just a miss understanding my boy Terry will take care of it!

VANGUARDS Y U NO DO MAXI THO

I may treat myself to a Silas Models Maxi, not cheap, and resin. I agree though, they could have spent the money they used tooling those Bentley and Lotus models more wisely

Posted

There's probably more chance of me having a go on Emma Bunton than Vanguards doing a Maxi.

That they've announced an increase in prices this week (both trade and RRP) and at the same time decreased retailers margin isn't going to help matters either is it.

Posted

For obvious reasons I want a Maxi too but in 1/76 scale so I'm disappointed Oxford Diecast haven't done one yet. I have this crazy idea that grafting the front of a Mk2 Cortina onto a Landcrab might make something passable in such a small scale. Any thoughts?

And EFE are now in the hands of Bachmann, which was inevitable, Frank Joyce can now retire, and Bachmann will try and sell overpriced, crude models for top dollar!

Posted

i would love some one, either Vanguards or Oxford to do a Metro.... since between them both makers offer the Princess, Allegro, Marina ect

maybe, one day someone will!

but Bachmann seem to have some odd ideas when it comes to their pricing policy, such as £25 for a Presflo??

i've been making do with the old Airfix/Dapol kit at £7 a pop.

someone must be buying them though, i guess?

They are mk3 rear lights, spoils it, I added a passenger side mirror as well. I have the same model in white on it's way too

The price is a bit salty but EFE aren't half as crude as Britbus or some Corgi 00C offerings. Some of their castings really need either revised or retired though as they're getting on for 30 years old now. Will be interesting to see what they do next.

EFE urgently need new castings, the Harrington Cavalier, and MCW Atlantean are 2 castings that deffo need to be dumped in the bin for starters

Aye and make a proper Alexander AL or Lowheight AD casting and sack off the fucked about with MCW casting.

Not your scale, I know, but somewhere I have an old Spot-On Austin 1800 that I made into a Maxi with some judicious filling and shaping.  If you can get a 1/76 Crab that might be an acceptable way forward.  Be aware that although the two full-size cars used the same doors, the quarter window behind them was different, the Maxi's is bigger.  Shouldn't matter at so small a scale, probably.

Just realised I now have 4 Vanguards Morris Marinas, Teal, Aqua, Limeflower and now this plod version. EEEEEK!

I'm curious to know what this lot will end up selling for:

The seller with the big collection of Tamiya kits has dropped the price to £1500 now. Still way more than I can afford, sadly.

If those are the ESCi/ERTL 1/25 scale kit ones, and they're worth that much, I'm selling my two right now.

I avoid anything OSF and Ford now, like a shitty smell, due to the type of collectors/prices it attracts. Thankfully I got a fair few before all this kicked in.

I really can't understand why a 1/43 MAXI hasn't been released by a mainstream manufacturer yet.

Posted

Why doesn't Tamiya man realise that only selling them individually will work?

I guess it's one of those "I really did list them on eBay, darling, but they didn't sell" listings.
