Interesting to read the Transit kit review/comments.

I wish had the skills to weather something like that yellow one. It seems to me to be the best way to go for this, and a few other kits I have.

I bought this 1/76 scale Leyland FG from Ryanbus in November 2003. It goes well with my Hong Kong buses of the same scale. This is not the Best Choose example, it's a hand built resin item from Hong Kong Model Co. it's very detailed indeed. I can't find anything about it online any more though.

Here it is with the Base Toys version which is easy to find. post-3238-0-91502700-1478973547_thumb.jpg

Right.

There has been a plastic avalanche.

I should know, because I triggered it. By attending the Scale Model World in Telford yesterday.

So here goes.

I was unable to leave this JoHan Olds 442 behind. It was even still sealed, until I rudely deflorated it.

This next one is not a car kit. In fact, I don't even care about the subject. Neither do I care about the scale.

But when I saw the box, I had that total Aaron Draplin moment, so I had to have it.

001.jpg

The contents are equally mint and it has a pre decimal price written on it, 4s 2d. Which was a lot of money for a plastic kit back then.

Yes, we are talking about an expensive hobby here.

Right. Next. Cars again.

Some Italian ex-pat made some hot rods in France. Being in full plastic Schlumpf mode, I want to own each and every one made as a plastic kit.

This is another gap in my collection filled:

001.jpg

I noticed that I don't own a single Mopar redneck icon. This has now been corrected.

001.jpg

When Chrysler Imperials were still Chrysler Imperials (do not piss me off!):

001.jpg

Some German sports car, just because I was in that mood:

001.jpg

And then. There was the catch of the day!

Just look. Just bloody LOOK, I say!

I got me this:

001.jpg

Whoa! If this isn't terminally plastic shite, I would like to have the very term defined!

And whatever will happen to that surfer next, it won't feel good.

And when I returned home after a loooong day, Imagine my surprise finding a parcel containing this:

001.jpg

OMG NOT JB 007 GOLDFINGER. Hence totally worthless shite:

Ooh, I do like that Coronado. If that were 1:18 I'd be hyperventilating right now.

Some nice buys there, reasonably priced? Would like to go one day.

Just had the Hasegawa 1:24 version of the Honda N360 arrive here. I don’t know if it’s a newly-tooled kit, but it has some almost painfully delicate detailing and looks like it will be a lovely thing to build. I just hope that I can do it justice when I eventually get onto it…..

Edit: That’s the eBay photo, I take no responsibility for whatever it was photographed on.

Prices were suspiciously moderate compared with what these would command on eBay.

The most pricey one was the Rock Machine in Guam at 25 Quiddichs. The Dodge cost me 20, septics are willing to pay 100 Dollars for those.

Plus, no postage. Just going there and back with the 19 OMGMPG Deranged Rover of much pub talk...

And yes, the Hasegawa 360 is a brand new tool.

I too picked up a few bits from Scale Model World at the weekend.

post-17021-0-50235300-1479214360_thumb.jpg

Fujimi Mini for parts, £3. The floor's missing, and the shell has a crack in the roof but it's got all the important bits like the late dash and grille. Even better, it came with the correct wheels for the last one I built. Got to build something really mundane out of this, like a grey bumper City E.

Ertl 59 El Camino, £15. Still shrink-wrapped and despite the box being flawless, the roof had been crushed and the pillars broken. It's repaired okay.

Revell Mercedes 300 SL24, £5. Complete but shell painted in shite primer. It's sanded well though.

Revell London Bus, £20. New and sealed. Mini for scale, since this box is enormous. I've never seen so much plastic.

Every vendor at Telford had several stacks of them. They didn't get lower during the course of the day.

It looked to me as if people weren't too impressed by someone whacking a tool that had paid for itself 30 years ago

into a moulding machine, adding a mediocre decal sheet and charging 24 quid for his effort*.

I expect them to be marked down very soon.

You are doing me a concern.

I don't want to miss out but at the same time I don't want to pay a not inconsiderable sum for something substandard.

I wouldn’t say it’s sub-standard, just not new – I was more than happy with it, having never seen the original version. If the reissue of stuff like this helps the manufacturer pay for the tooling on new releases then all well and good.

Mine was £22.99 off eBay, including postage. I can’t see them ever dropping much below £15-20.

Ok cheers SL. I have some quite old kits in my collection and they do me fine so I'll get this Transit kit. I love the old school models so this should fit in!

It's not substandard. For its day it was state of the art and it held up reasonably well.

Look at what some people built from the kit.

Picked up a Gaz Volga 24 off a fb group as well, arrived this morning, sadly no mag with it, but it's nice. Also from the same seller, I got a Vanguards Sierra Sapphire GLS in red. Photos later. Gonna be fun packing all my models up next week, as I move down to the coast into a giffer flat, not quite 'home by the sea', more like home by the docks LOL

Just ordered a Matrix models 1/43 resin Cadillac hearse. They look really good in the pics I've seen, though they are not cheap! Should be here in the next few days.

I then decided it was a good idea to get some other similar models, some of which had to be ordered in so I'll have to wait a little while for them, but I can't wait to get them.

There's a Granada mk2 estate, had to have one since I own a 1/1 scale version

Austin A135 Princess, because I love the real ones!

AMC Pacer

Mercury Marquis, again I had to have one as I own a 1/1 version.

Dodge Monaco

Oldsmobile 98 hearse

Chevy Caprice Classic

Lincoln Continental mk4 coupe

And lastly a Cadillac DeVille

Pics to follow once they actually arrive, but I can't wait to see them! They look really good quality well detailed models.

hahah be carefull searching matrix models

Yes! Yes indeed!

I did it yesterday and people cold see my ipad screen! Took a bit of explaining but I think I'm good.

My final purchases before I flit next week, A Vanguards Sierra Sapphire GLS and a DeAgostini Volga 24, plus my Samara fleet. I never thought I would ever have a collection of Commietat 5 years ago, now I'm over run with em :)

Matchbox Superkings Artic purchased today for a quid!

It should have a peterbilt tractor unit, not a crusader.

But for a quid...

Langanese is a Unilever brand on the continent, the same as Walls Ice cream. The white 3 door Samara has Altaya Opel Corsa wheels, and the Volga does look utterly misery spec with the wheeltrims. Feck knows why Corgi fitted a beige interior in the Sierra GLS, it should be grey.

that sierror has got the rong seats- they recaros they are

I noticed that as well, Corgi saving money on tooling as most releases have been Cossehs

It's a really nice model, very fine details and well made. They aren't cheap but I'll certainly be looking forward to getting my other Matrix and Neo resin cars soon. Well worth it IMHO.
