Spiny Norman Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Been meaning to take some decent snaps of my new barge and since it wasn't pissing down today I grabbed my camera before I went out and took these. I'd forgotten just how well a silver car hides the dirt, it looks pretty good in these pics but when I got up close I could see it's actually pretty manky. Ah well, a touch of "The Doctor"- style photoshoppage hides many sins. Quite chuffed with it so far, it potters around quite the thing and seems quite fit. I've fixed a wonky indicator (less than a tenner off Ebay) and discovered a slow puncture but that's it. It even seems to be not too catastrophic on petrol, with a couple of £30 shots of juice each lasting about 120 miles. Doesn't feel like 220-odd bhp unless you really boot the throttle down into the footwell but I always think that's more down to the long travel organ-pedals they fit to these Kraut tanks than any real lack of urge. So far so good.
ProgRocker Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Very nice, Weegie. Are you keeping the Saab too?
trigger Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Far too posh to be shite! It does look very nice.
HMC Posted February 12, 2012 Posted February 12, 2012 Looks great! I think these still look really fresh, IIRC has a drag coefficient of 0.27 which is good even today. Any rust issues?
Spiny Norman Posted February 12, 2012 Author Posted February 12, 2012 Are you keeping the Saab too?Saab passed its MOT last week, serviced & taxed too, so for the time being yes. .... Any rust issues?Nothing drastic, and certainly nothing you wouldn't reasonably expect on any 16 year old car. Slight scabbiness along the bottom of the driver's door, couple of spots on the bonnet, wee bits here & there, but for a W210 it's very tidy. Maybe not true shite in the accepted sense, but when any car gets bought for about 2.5% of the original purchase price shite-dom can't be far away!
Cavcraft Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Nice! Looks like you have the electric seats too?
Spiny Norman Posted February 13, 2012 Author Posted February 13, 2012 Nice! Looks like you have the electric seats too? Yup, moves the headrests and the steering wheel too. And it still works! Being a grumpy old sod I'd trade it for heated seats since I find the leather a bit chilly on the botty at this time of year, but I've never had a car with heated seats where they worked so maybe not.
