Phil Thompson's expression 'Fucking Scousers' as  he is pictured next to his Ford Capri after its wheels had been stolen in 1974. Defender Thompson was with Liverpool between 1971 and 1984, And often had his Chod mucked about wit

Imagine the advert offering a free freezer when you buy a Simca from Cowie Kirby.

Oh the irony - how long before your shiny new Simca became a freezer itself?

Enjoyed the photos and adverts, even though I've never been to Liverpool.  My Reliant Regal MKVI was originally registered LCM66, a Liverpool  number, but the number was sold by a previous owner in the 1980s (it went on an Audi Quattro, then a Range Rover, and was last being carried on a white van in the Stroud area).  A letter from the son of the original owner says that the car was bought from Argyle Street Motors, Liverpool, in March 1961. Anyone know of this garage?  Google maps shows Argyle Street as a mainly modern, very narrow street now. I spotted a few Reliants in the photos, including a sidevalve van, but no saloons or Reliant dealerships :-D .

#flattered. I only update the thread once a year with whatever photos I've gathered through the last 12 months.

Furthermore, I'd like to book test drives of the 1973 Moskvich 412 Wirral Cars has available, Geo. Herron's 1965 Zephyr 6 MKIII,

the 1968 Rover 3.5 Coupe offered by King Street Datsun, Heswall Rover Specialists' 1966 Jag MK10 and 1964 Rover 95,

the Zircon Blue 3500 over at R.E. Wright, and Carr Hall's 1965 Daimler V8 in what doubtless is JRG.

Could it be, that I'm a potential client for the more wafty wares?

Well, I guess each motor I selected would sufficiently impress the rather lovely staff of Stavordale Garage in Moreton, no?

I'm just putting the finishing touches to the latest update. I normally do this over Xmas but I was somewhat busy then so I'll bung the next photos up over the next day or two so I'm not forever bumping this thread up over the next week.
