Excellent work NB. Absolute dedication for the cause to go through all that and its great to have a car like this "saved" by someone who appreciates it. Love the detail of the engraved key/wheels. Its an awesome looking machine. Oh and if you've got something roadworthy that needs to be out the way to make some space I'm sure I could look after it for a little while

Thanks Guys.Pandamonium -no plans to sell the 124 -it would need to be big money to cover the import costs etc..Reg -shout -if you need help -but do give me a bit of notice.Yep -he knows where I live- from the V5. But he's too lazy to come this far....Nope not him in the pic -VERY careful to stay out of view.

Congratulations on aquiring a beaut' of a motor from the hands of an obviously deranged noob.I too, given the lack of comeback, would have probably given the prat a one way ticket to neg-ville.If you need peeps to bid on the service history (if it ever makes 'da bay) i'm sure I, or others on here, would bid on your behalf to avoid detection as who its going to.

I still can't work out why anyone would want to bid on the service history of a car they didn't own :? Unless he's just being an absolute ass and trying to p155 you off. Like Volksy said, rest assured if it comes on eyab, one of us on here will secure it ...

Cheers. I'll buy it -if any of you spot it....For an 'alleged' Mobile mechanic -he's sure a numpty.Failing brakes seems to be little more than rear brakes being miles out of adjustment- although that may mean relining the shoes. (& havent checked the fronts yet)Awful tickover seems to be little more than a service -although I cant get 2 of the plugs out -but a good soaking in diesel, and a few hot runs may sort it -interestingly seems to be a complete mish-mash of plugs. Whatever -tickover now near normal.Oil was like tar -currently on 'flushing' for now...No air filter at all -although the casing is still there so reckon I'll be able to match up OK.Seized boot lock was rectified in 10 mins by removing it -and reconnecting the sloenoid switch till I free it off.Electric windows seem to work better with a fuse in.The exhaust is a complete dogs dinner -so I can see a few hours fun under there -when I can get it sompplace sensible to raise it sufficiently. And that looks it for a 'first refusal'. Cant see ANY structural issues at all.Belletts delayed (- boats broken in Norfolk, Virginia ) so I get at least an extra week -so hopefully roadlegal before the ship docks!

Indeed so. It certainly looked pretty good when I saw it a few years back – I know appearances can be deceptive as to its true condition then, but I’d have been disappointed if it’d turned into a complete pile of poo since.

Bet I can’t find his address, but I did send the owner at that time some copies of articles I’d got.

Anyway, I will dig out those photos of it at some point.

I have his full name & home address -despite attempts to hide it. A dope really -cos it'll be on the V5c -if/when it arrives. I'd offer 50/50 he 'forgets' to post the Log book off -after all -stamps cost!!!!Nigel -if you do have anything on it -it would be very welcome..Paintworks nadgered -been keyed everywhere- front wing kicked in (it'll push out but the paints had it), microblistering all over & several rust spots needing attention before winter(-mainly a rub down and hammerite for now).Really -just want it on the road as an everyday tool for the taile end of summer -decide where to go thereafter..

Nigel -if you do have anything on it -it would be very welcome..

Extraordinary! I went out to the shed to find a flask to take out on survey tomorrow, had a quick root around my boxes and found the photos easy-peasy. Also dug out the Isuzu folder, just having a look through to see what's in there.

Anyway, I reckon these are from 2001 - I did this JAPS show on Saturday and Bromley on Sunday IIRC, buying lots of brochures in the process. Ah, pre-children days

Six photos on a film camera, I was clearly taken with it.

Still didn't find the flask though

I think this is from Motor, about 1979 or maybe a tad earlier. Frustratingly a) I didn't scribble down the date on it and B) They don't say why it was here. Well before the Piazza, so unlikely to be some kind of early marketing.

120bhp was alot to shout about in the 70s!

Thanks SL -pm sent.Well -its deteriorated a bit since those pics were taken! Predominantly piss poor storage I think. Its a bare metal respray to get it back there- and that wont be happening for a goodly while.

Posted

Yup -reckon so. Seller said it had previously been silver- and flaking paint bears that out. Trace of silver insdie the bodyshell too -but it was a comprehensive strip out to respray it.Too many similarities -cant find these alloys on any other car -anywhere!

Posted

Yup -thats a definite. The Classic & Sportscar article confirms it to be the same, silver ,car -resprayed whilst in the Patrick Collection. Mileage of 48,000 km (around 30,000 miles) seems correct too!

Posted

How very odd, to go to the effort of such a full-on respray. With the twin rectangular lights, I keep thinking of Peugeot 504 coupe.

Posted

Did they release the 117 in the mid-sixties then? I'm thinking of parallels with the Piazza, which was a later resurrection of an earlier Giugiaro design, if you know what I mean.Have to say the silver suits it better than the burgundy - but it's not my car, so it's Mr Bickle's choice!

Posted

That silver one from Motor '79 is your actual car isn't it Nigel?

Lucky guess?

Agree on the colour RW. Short term patch up to preserve- and if it ever does get a full blowover- it'll be a more modern silver. Prefer it -and i think it suits its better.

Great thread, well done Nigel for your perseverance - I dont think I am the only member of this board who is envious of your collection.. and that was before this purchase!Cheers, Greg.

Fairy bottle??

That older Isuzu has been off the road since '87 and has been registered in the UK since new.

Much prefer the squared headlights on Mr. Bickle's example. 8)

Thanks MC -think I do too!Brakes now sorted- errant rear wheel adjuster the principle issue. Adjusted up nicely on the footpedla then flipped off with the handbrake -result -a varying pedal -close to the floor.Since all else was fine, a dab of weld will hold it for now -with a 'too source' mental note for a new set of shoes. Can't be much wear on the back -esp with the likely mileage for the foreseeable -so a short term bodge will probably see it out!Just the exhaust now!
