We've had Beige, we've had Blue, we've had other colours, now it's the turn of Green; maxpower, turn away now!

JohnF might like to turn away too, as we start with two of his favourites (not really, more like mine :D ):

Someone else must have some green ones, Shirley?

DW, your friend must have a charmed life!

There is a superstition amongst a lot of Hull people that green cars are unlucky. I'm not born and bred so don't know the origins but I think it comes from the fishing/seafaring community. (Maybe it's connected but rats are never called "rats" but are referred to as "longtails".)

I think my 2CVing friend proves that green is very lucky! Mind you, not so lucky to get hit by a BMW that ploughed through the central reservation... (mind you, he had to be cut out of his car!).

My Dad's first green car was a Rover 414SLi R8. The radiator fell apart, he got hit in it by a bus and then he drove into the back of someone who'd stalled. Somewhat blotted his otherwise immaculate copybook that car. I've owned green cars and they've been great. The green cars in this thread are stunning! Especially some of Michiel's efforts. Fabulous.

Yes, I've known people who wouldn't have a green car for that reason, and I've never lived anywhere near Hull! :D I feel exactly the same about brown-spectrum cars.

What about Apple Green from the Corsa B?

Or solid Carriage Green from the early mk4 Astra as seen in replies #2 and #3.

I really like Carriage Green :D:oops: but only sold in low numbers. My local dealer nicknamed it 'Army Green'.

P6s by Tayne, on Flickr

Pedant mode. Actually, that P6 is Lunar Grey. Presumably the colour was not chosen by someone who had actually been to the moon.

even though i hate green cars... i could roll in that vogue estate

Yes that is very nice, very rare actually cause it is not a Singer Vogue, it is a Sunbeam Vogue!

http://www.paykanhunter.com/2011/09/moffat-run.html

Rootes Group used the Sunbeam badge for export market only, but in 1970 they decided to drop the Singer name from their product lineup, so they re-badged the left-over Singers as Sunbeams for the UK market. This is another example from that year, a Sunbeam Vogue estate. Which apparently participated in the Moffat Car Rally.

PH, you'll be pleased to know I found another green Arrow this morning, parked off-road in one of the villages. You'll then be disappointed to learn that it was too far from the road for me to identify it by model, or even get a snap... sorry.
