Toyota Corona anyone?

I'd love this, but even with Shiply It would end up costing £1000 before i even started. I hope it doesn't even up getting wrecked by someone who owns a Holden on RR.

Dangerously cheap! Quick quick - Before it gets a fresh coat of Dulux

That's what worries me, cort16 is local and hopefully will get in there, otherwise I'm happy to step up and show it a good time.

Cripes! Must be the only one left. My dad had one - YTF615N, bought new from the Toyota dealer in Preston, with an Allegro going the other way as trade-in!

Needs saving. Might see if Toyota GB is interested - it's the sort of ur-Avensis...

Why is it that whenever something Japanese and interesting rears its head I'm out of the country?

That is epic EPIC chod. I can only imagine what this sounds like. I'd love to see a pic of the engine. The wheels look great without trims too. It's just dying for someone to take arty photos of it ;)

I've just spoken to the guy at the breakers and he said that it's been scrapped according to the DVLA. They set the scrapped marker against it by accident as the girl in the office just thought it was an old bus.

Sure enough when I did an hpi lookup it says scrapped date 04/08/2011 .

I know we've been through this before but how easy would it be to get it un-scrapped?

Posted

NOOOO!!! That girl needs a beating!, I'm pretty sure that once it's got a C.O.D it's game over, even if it is in error, I'd be interested to find if this is true or not.

Posted

I just called the DVLA and the guy said you probably couldn't get it back on the road BUT you could send in a V62 application for a vehicle reg certificate and try if you want.

So I could buy it and MAYBE get a v5 but probably not.

It's not unheard of to get a COD overturned. There is a Metro VP500 that had its COD overturned a few years ago after a friend saved it from a breaker's.

Posted

Aye. It is possible, but probably not easy. Mind you, it's bound to need a little fettling while the paperwork is sorted out!

Posted

If you was still to buy it and the paperwork doesn't work out would it still be worth £500 in spares?.

Posted

That wouldn’t bother me, lets face it you’re gonna have plenty of time to get it on with the DVLA while you sort the actual car out. It'll be fine!

Posted

I got a car unscrapped before, and I didn't even know the registration number (the previous owner had kept them before scrapping the vehicle).

It involved getting the thing inspected at the DVLA local office, but was hardly difficult.

Shitting cunting fuck!

Sorry guys, wasn't aware of this and it would appear neither did my colleague. That'd explain why it wasn't on the DVLA system. Bumhats!

Lads, I'm worried there's a serious danger of this getting a trip to the bridge, officially scrap, so now it would only take a few messers to piss off the vendor, we've all seen it happen before.

I've had a few responses now from shipley, so I suppose if I can get the thing paid for over the phone tomorrow then it can avoid becomming coke cans, and worry about the logbook later, I'd ring the bugger if I have to.

I'm going to see it tomorrow afternoon and if the arse isn't hanging out I'll have it and take the risk on the v5. Hopefully he'll deliver it to Ayrshire for me too.

I'm sure i've seen genuine errors regarding scrapping being sorted out by the DVLA without too much aggro. Its been off the road so long now that its probably going to need a VIC check anyway.

Your right guys the bloody women got rid of the documents of the car was well annoyed i travelled all the way from manchester today setting of 7am, I was ready to bring this corona home today, had a chat with the owner who didnt evan bother comming down from his office said yes every thing is fine with the car usuall storey some old chap had it since new and had passed away till they got hold of it, he told me he had the v5,, i was just about to hand the £££ over to him when i decided to have a look at the v5,, asked to see the v5 as the car didnt have a door lock and the ignition barrel casing was broken,, :?:? He then asked the lady at the desk to pull the v5 out and after 5 mins of searching and looking they told me sorry the cars going to be crushed and is no longer for sale :x:x:x:x what pissd me of the most was the lady was actually laffing and smiling whilst saying all this and evan told me to get over it its only a old car not as if your going to lose out onit

So i got onto DVLA to confirm things and they told me the same that it should be scrapped but you can try your luck by filling out the v65 forum i think it is and get the car inspected by the chaps at DVLA and he also mentioned no garuntee given it will be put back on the road.....

I tried to get the car still by risking everything but the owner just wouldnt have it,, told me his license will be at risk if he lets that car out of his yard as the car is ment to be crushed time ago and for 500 pound his got no time to waste as he deals with big buses that are worth thousands.... was well gutted 400 mile trip for nothing  I have loads of pics of the car too i will upload them tommorow hopefully,,shatterd right now after driving since 7am

I go there at about 11am but he didnt no till about 3 when i left the yard that it has not got a V5,, i was willing to take it as it is but he wouldnt risk it letting the car out his yard,, was teeling me that DVLA are very strict and we deal with them direct etc...

Well, that's one of the most depressing things I've ever heard. The fact that a non sporting 1970s Toyota has survived until 2011 is nothing short of a miracle. Now it's going to be destroyed because some silly bint who doesn't know her job made a cock-up with the paperwork. Excellent.

I still cant get her fkn grin out of my head whilst telling me it was going to get scrapped she was a rite bitch..... :x:x:x:x

He definetly said to me it was still there and that it had a scrap marker against. I hope it wasn't my call that made him change his mind.
