  2. I hadn't, thank you. Andyrew changed the doors on our C15 this year so we are all good at the moment.
  3. There is time yet! I am hoping the Alfa Giulietta can move forward in 2024, I have been offered a very rusty CX with Mech stuff that I will chase for 2024. The Visa GT is a long sad tale for another day.
  4. You are right, initially I was turned down and eventually given free road tax for the Trevi. I remember now it was still on my pay for list so I SORNed the Trevi at the end of the summer. I have just retaxed it for free.
  5. All these cars are 1983 registered and 40 years old so are already MOT exempt. For 2024 Just one car that will become MOT optional 2024 1. MG Metro date first reg 23-8-84. Current MOT will run out 25th April 2024
  6. Something for me to look forward to in 2024 is more of our cars get free road tax. Cars that will become free road tax April 2024 1. Citroen Visa GT date first reg 4-11-83– Needs a lot of work
  7. We have had a visitor today to make our drive look pretty!
  8. Just because it had to wear nappies because of the leakage doesn't mean it's nice to mock the 480!
  9. But not mind! @Prince_of_darkness91 has borrowed the slightly broken 480 because the alternator is screaming on his Rover and not charging properly so the power steering is cutting out.
  10. No this is Richardmorris's personal parade so he doesn't get bored at work!
  11. Is anybody intrested in a Christmas Autoshite Zoom? I am thinking evening Wednesday 27th December? This is in addition to the FoD tea and chat in a heated party tent Thursday 28th December, which is definitely going ahead.
  12. Yesterday while out in our V70 @hairnet asked if I had ever had a Volvo 850 and I couldn't remember if the other Volvos I had of that shape were V70s or 850s. The answer is I have had two 850, one a GLT 2.5 20v Auto and the other an S 2.5 10v manual. Yes at one time we had his and hers Volvo estates, I had 170bhp and Mrs6C had 240bhp! I did also have another V70 of this shape, a 2.5 10v Auto.
  13. Yes, yes I am planning to do a what needs fixing list, but it was too much writing!
  14. Only the Seicento 600, 200TE, 480 and 504 are broken!
  15. 2023 – In 6 There was always a plan to buy one car in 2023 and I had been selling cars through 2022 to achieve that. Yes I bought a pre-war 1933 Rolls Royce 20/25 with Park Ward bodywork. Still a touch of Autoshite about it being the cheapest I could find running, it has slightly dodgy paint work, broken fuel gauge, a dragging clutch and missing the spirit of Ecstasy! It was not long into 2023, “the year of no more random purchases” I got a message did I want to save the Mitsubishi Sigma 3.0 estate I had admired when it visited me in 2016 as the clutch was gone. Big Thanks to Talbot, Andyrew and Morrissital SLX it is now MOTed. I had a message from Andyrew offering me a pick from his collection and I chose to buy the MX5 MK2, random yes but I knew how much work had been done under that scruffy exterior. I only kept it 4 months. I struggled a bit with getting in under the full size airbag steering wheel after my small Momo wheel on the MK1, but the real reason was the £365 road tax on a car I was going to use occasionally for less than 1,000 miles a year. A further message came from Andyrew offering me his Discovery MK1 300 TDi manual before he offered it to the world. The yes reply was by return, after all I had only owned one other MK1 Discovery and that was a V8 Auto! Andyrew has done a lot of work to it but it needs more and I have found somebody who loves MK1 Discos to do it so next year it should be out and about. The MG TF 1.6 was rather strange, Mrs6C came into my office one evening and asked if I had seen the yellow MG TF for sale and that could be my new winter beater. I pointed out it only had 2 days MOT left, needed some work and was in North Norfolk. When Mrs6C offered to take me next day to collect it I knew I was beaten! It is all MOTed and running now and I like it, but not as a winter beater. The Ad for the Volvo 480ES was sent to me and like a moth to a flame I was attracted to it. 2023 – Out 2 1986 Mercedes 230TE W123 - I loved that car but the job list was long and the straw that broke the camel's back was not being able to find a rear arm that supports the spring at a reasonable price. 2002 Mazda MX5 1.6 – fitting under the steering wheel could have been sorted with a new steering wheel but the £365 road tax was just too much.
  16. Is that another Bug that lives in Buckingham or the one Steeple Claydon that has been to see us at the FoD?
  17. A nice venue to visit. I have been a few times, last time was last year with Richard Morris's Merecdes E320 Coupe. It is too soon for me to plan which events I am attending next year.
  18. A little know fact is the current 504 is not the first one I have owned.
  19. It feels that way I have been driving W124s on & off since 1999. This one is now 33 years old.
  20. On the subject of flat batteries I drove the 480 into our garage Friday and now that has a flat battery as well.
  21. Now the reason I was driving the 200TE to go shopping rather than the Volvo V70 T5 as planned. The Volvo had a flat battery and seems to have a fault where sometimes it leaves it's footwell light on. It has been ok lateley and only sat unused for a week.
  22. An excessively large ham roll later and the brain is working again. There had been some stray pops while cranking and that suggested the spark was going astray, distributor cap, rotor arm or HT leads so I took the cap off. The HT leads and cap look very dirty outside but ok inside. When I took the cap off the culprit was staring me in the face, the rotor arm has tracking lines and a burnt end.
  23. As Mrs6C suggested 40mins later it just started.
