  1. I got the 480 back today and it now starts on demarnd, the new replacement starter I had fitted was duff.
  2. My Sigma failed its MOT on lack of sharp cut off on dip beam. Glass lens, just a bit brownish on the flat area of the reflectors. I had to replace them and on that car they had to come from Australia.
  3. Today turned into another car day! @Andyrew came to see me and said is there anything I can help you with! Yes and Yes my Renault 4 and Seicento won't start. The Renault 4 turned out to be the throttle return spring had become disconnected so it was wide open with max air flow while I was trying to start it cold. When the spring was hooked up it started straight away. The base plate for the air filter bolts had pulled it out of the carburettor so we managed to recut threads in one, glue one in and wedged a piece of cable tie in the third to screw against. It now doesn't wobble. Then the wipers started working again but slowly and needed some help. Andy turned his attention to the Seicento, it seemed like a flat battery but Andy’s knowledge shone through and he said seized alternator and sure enough that is the problem. We then took the Gamma and Renault to storage and got out the Astra and my Morris 1300. Andy lowered his standards to drive the Morris having arrived in a Vanden Plas!
  4. Today was the annual Lancia Gamma Italian lunch. 7 Gamma's made it this year. Ours coughed and spluttered at times but made it there and back. There were 5 coupes and 2 Saloons, I bought the Berlina (Saloon) rather than the coupe because I like the shape better, what do others think?
  5. Yesterday was MK Modern Classics meet, first one for a while. A bit down on numbers but what a range of cars and my Sigma found a Delica friend. @Prince_of_darkness91 bought his R8 convertible. Did I mention breakfast bap with egg, bacon, sausage and a coffee for £5!
  6. Sunday is the annual Lancia Gamma consortium lunch and I am booked to go. It is nice to get as many Gamma's gathered together so today @Slowsilverhelped me get my Gamma out of storage. It started well enough on its own battery. We ran it up to temperature andstopped it to check the oil and water, after that it was difficult to start and ran poorly, misfiring. I drove it home from storage but it was not happy. I took the cap/rotor arm off but they looked good. At that point it was getting dark and Slowsilver wanted to go home for his tea so I am not sure if it is useable or not.
  7. No that was the driver doing Autoshite meeting in Scotland. I was embarrassed and got a lift so I didn't turn up in a young Range Rover, now it much more broken and autoshite.
  8. It only ever had 3 years and then you had to pay £1,000+ a year. I had such bad experience with selling and local Land Rover dealers I abandoned the idea of main dealer servicing it and paying for the extended warranty. I have now found a Land Rover Specialist in Milton Keynes who seem good.
  9. It was pretty good until it was 7 years old, then...........
  10. Is a Renault 4 GTL an estate car? Do we have 4 or 5 estate cars on the drive this morning.
  11. Today was a failure then a success! . I needed to change the n-s headlight on the Range Rover, turns out you need to take the bumper off, to get the bumper off you need to remove the front sections of both wheel arch liners. That was too much getting under the car for me. . The Carlton Estate has turned over but not started even after several attempts on different days. Today IanBMW came over to see what was wrong, it started first time. The strange thing was before we even put the key in Ian said I am sure it will start fine!
  12. Panic over. I have now received an email to confirm I am one of the 350 in the Mitsubishi Sigma at Rustival.
  13. It looks like I failed to get booked into Rustival. Last Friday 12 Jan I booked an annual ticket with Gaydon. As soon as I booked I clicked on the link for Rustival and thought I had booked in the Mitsubishi Sigma but have never received any conformation. I have got my annual entry email pass, but not Rustival. I have messaged Rustival but have never received a reply. . I don’t fancy general parking because that can be quite a walk.
  14. How about this pair both designed by Pininfarina.
  15. I had got to the point where I was thinking I was ready to sell my MGB GT last year. Then I drove mine a couple of times and deceided I enjoyed it even if I didn't use it much. I have had mine 12 years now and while I need to sell some cars because I was 4 up at the end of last year, the MGB GT stays.
  16. Yesterday evening we used the Sigma to go to a Triumph club meeting and coming home it was difficult to change gear. Looking today it turns out the clutch fluid reservoir was empty. The area under the clutch slave is oily so I guess I have found the leak. The good news is clutch slaves are available in the UK and I have ordered one. That’s good news @MorrisItalSLX! I want to keep using the car, what I don’t know is whether it has had a slow leak since I put it back on the road about 300 miles ago that has emptied the reservoir. Or has just started leaking and is gushing out!
  17. Yesterday @Slowsilver came to help move the Renault 4 into storage, but I could not get it started so for now the Morris got the spot. We then went to the FoD to collect the black Astra and that started no problem. While we were there Slowsilver had a go at pumping the Tyres on the Royale but unfortunately one is so flat the bead is broken and it would not take air. Last was a trip to get the spare key cut for the Sigma which now works better than the original.
  18. I when out to the Renault 4 today and found the battery was totally flat. Also the fuel line had disconnected itself from the aftermarket in line fuel filter. It is now on charge and I will try again tomorrow.
  19. The question is whether this Renault 4 GTL is an estate? I think it is an estate, because the whole rear door opens to the floor level and the back is fairly upright. Mrs6C thinks NO, as there is not a saloon/hatch version so there can't be an estate version. Also Wikipedia says The Renault 4, or R4 in short (and 4L, pronounced "Quatrelle", in French), is an economy car built by the French company Renault from 1961 to 1994. Although the Renault 4 was first marketed as a short estate or wagon, its minimal rear overhang, and its top-hinged, single-piece tail-gate made it the world's first mass-produced hatchback car What do you think, Estate or not?
  20. No, one of them the buying process started in 2022, well yes I didn't get it until 2024! Good start to the year?
  21. Nearly grinding to a halt on a dual carriageway and then driving without wipers at dusk in and out of rain is a bit tense. I have now had my tea and had time to think about driving the Renault 4 for the first time in 17 years. This 4 GTL drives very nicely, steers well, brakes well and cruises at 60 mph comfortably. Yes there are things to attend to which we will tackle in spring when it will get free road tax. * Have a laugh on me, I used a toilet in a garage on the way today and went to hang my fleece on the back of the door but the hook was broken. I laid my fleece across the basin instead, but the automatic tap turned on and soaked my fleece! *
