  1. Spoke to Hastings this morning and was assured I can have my car back. The girl said she would put a notice on the car that it is to be returned and not to be stripped/damaged/auctioned etc.. It will be assessed at copart then another firm determine it's value then when agreed they will deliver it back to me! Not convinced
  2. Yeah I'll be leaving to the insurers. I get it you never get back what you put in buy I'm not after making money. I bought the car for 7k 2 years ago and it went bang. I rebuilt the motor.5 new injectors. Rebuilt turbo and steering rack @3k. So I'm 10k into a car they'll say is worth 5k on a good day and that sucks, especially when it wasn't my fault. Yeah, I know, life's a bitch....
  3. DINLT means what? I'm fucked?
  4. How would I go on with hastings paying out if I done this??
  5. Not sure where it's gone. Will find out when they open on Wednesday and let you know. Thanks for the offer
  6. My insurance company (hastings) organised recovery. I've spent a fortune on it and they'll give me buttons for it. I need it back.

    Copart

My daily xc90 got hit on the front last week, not my fault. Girl admitted liability at the road side, on the phone to Hastings direct, who we're both insured with. Both cars recovered by R.N.W. and mines been taken to copart who've written it off. Thing is i've rebuilt the motor and the gearbox is practically brand new so I need to buy it back but on here people seem to think if it's gone...it's gone. I thought I'd get the opportunity to buy it back???
  8. A guy I know has a 1999 porsche 996 black convertible with hard top. Proper nice thing with proper problems. Oil in the water last year so he sourced a second hand motor and all was good for a few weeks now same again. Basically he's had enough of it and offered it to me for 6k. Anyone got any experience of these?
  9. Anyone know if a decent 123 for sale? It's for a mate of mine with cash burning a hole. Estate, saloon, petrol or diesel Needing work or not
  10. Just bought a montessa cota 260cc. Got it going but it seems the clutch is stuck as it's been standing for 3 years. Any ideas on freeing it without stripping it? I've tried rocking it in gear but no luck. Sorry for no pics as I'm on my phone but it's a 1996,nice and clean, road registered @ £300
  11. Mine is the same but orange and beige. You can get awnings to match if you look hard enough. Ace things to own, always gets attention. Stinks like a musty old caravan.
  12. T-cut inside ashtrays. Removes all evidence of ciggies. Useful when selling a car, "never been smoked in, one careful owner, blah blah blah:
  13. Don't suppose you're goin anywhere in the north west any time soon? There's 'Norfolk -n-way' I can get to you! Sorry
  14. My dad taught me 'you don't buy cheap shoes and you don't buy a cheap bed, cos if you're not in one, you're in the other!' The same applies to tyres, especially when your kids are in the back. I recently bought 2 pirelli scorpions @£40 a piece with 7mm on each. Retail £100 each. Why? Cos they'd had a puncture repair! Some people actually bin tyres cos they've had a puncture! If I had 37 bags to spend, would I fuck buy that BM.
  15. No thanks mate. I need the space on my drive back.
  16. No need for that really was there FATHARRIS. As DVEE8 rightly stated, I cant post any links from my phone and I've no access to a p.c. I'm not trying to convince anyone to buy anything. I'm simply putting a bargain out there. Thanks for your useless input though.
  17. Green with black leather/suede in nice clean condition. 148k with history. Mot till Feb just had service and brakes. Just had a gas injector and tune up runs well. A few marks on the body but really is a nice thing. It's on ebay at the moment which is making me lose the will to live please someone get it off my drive. I've been offered a grand for it 3 times on ebay and should have accepted it but I genuinely believe it's worth more. Anyway please look for it on ebay for photos as i'm on my phone and can't post them.
  18. HERTZ YOURS ARE THE ONLY LINKS I CAN NEVER OPEN
  19. I've just bought a car purely to fix and move on from a friend of a friend and I'm unsure about the logbook bit. I don't want to put it in my name cos it'll be done and for sale before v5 would be back from dvla. I also don't want hmrc looking at me if I fill in the 'sold to a trader bit' but think this is the way to go. How would I go about selling it if I fill in the trader bit? Apologies for being a bit thick
  20. Google 'capillary action'. Water gets in everything and travels up wires etc and will inevitably cause future electrical problems. I know a few people who are into salvage and none of them would touch anything flood damaged with a bargepole cos although they don't look it, most of them are fucked. Not worth the hassle IMHO.
  21. Goin to look at a motorhome later that's being sold without m o.t, seller sounds genuine but I'd like to check if it's been moted and failed miserably. I believe a few on here know how to do this and as I don't have p.c access any help would be greatly appreciated. Reg is H699 OBE
  22. We have a caravan already which is for sale so we will use and enjoy it. Renting something decent is about £100 a day which to me is dead money.
  23. Having decided we've had enough of spunking four grand on a summer holiday that's usually pretty shit, the plan this year is to have a go in the motorhome department and tour south England, maybe france. Budget is about eight bags. Must be at least 6 birth. Am I asking for trouble buying some kind of old r.v or would I be better with some kind of converted minibus....mercedes vario type thing? Your thoughts and advice please and anyone know of anything for sale.
  24. I looked at two, both with leaking injector seals. Apparently they can be an absolute twat to get out which is probably why they were for sale. Horrendous wing rot
