There was Corgi Trumph Acclaim on my local flea market last week. The cock-polisher wanted a fiver for it, given that the steering wing mirrors had been chewed off and it was scratched to shit I aborted but it was a nice model.

I'll go and offer him a quid next week.

OMFG DAEWOOdiecastshite! Yup it's a Daewoo Nexia, or Cielo as it was known in Romania, and how the frig could it be a legend eh?

From my collection, and in stunning metallic blue.

The Minnisima was a weird prototype, which ended up becoming an invalid car with Mini running gear & slushvox, and a large 1 piece rear door & fold down ramp for wheelchair access. Nice Acclaim. They go for about £30-35 in that condition nowadays.

The "legend" bit ticked me too, Felly. I think "pile of fucking shit" would be more apt.

That Legends range has a few ARO 4x4's in and Dacias. I may be tempted with the Dacia pickup.

Yeah, Hot Wheels should release a Wayne's World version...

I would happily have paid £15 for the fiat.

Compared to matchbox/corgi/dinky I think Polistil and burago are good value for money nowadays - matchbox superfast seem to be getting really expensive to the point where I cannot afford them anymore - the same goes for corgi juniors whizzwheels still in their blister packs. There seem to be a lot of matchbox for sale with repro boxes being passed off as original. Caveat emptor.

When I was small my cousin would get me either a burago or polistil car at christmas - the size and weight made them feel really special.

I remember as a wee nipper getting a pair of large scale Bburagos one christmas, the rather nice Rolls Siver Shadow II and a Range Rover fire engine, both of which had loads of opening bits & bobs. A mate had the Polistil Ovlov 164, I was dead jealous as that had 4 opening doors, opening bonnet & boot, and steering! The Mirafiori I flogged to Italy had early stages of metal fatigue by the looks, as it was getting a bit powdery, and I spent ages removing oxidization with sponge scourers.

Hows this for a shitty Bburago? An Austin Metro that I repainted badly about 10 years ago after the tailgate snapped off.

Ive got that Metro mint and boxed, ace thing! Got a few old Polistils too, the non window box type with metal base. Lancia Fulvia Polar rally and Beetle cabrio. Also got the Volvo 164 and Mini. Good Polistils in their boxes go for a ton easily these days!

Btw FM, posted the 2 Skodas yesterday via Royal Shitleys best LDV Convoy.

That's not the dreaded zinc pest on the front wing is it?

Looks like a hair in the lense. Bburagos are actually chapped out from a solid block of alloy. Actual fact.

Zinc pest is slowly working it's way through my collection. Mostly very expensive 1/18 cars too.

Posted

I don't think it is, Iain: it would appear on the tailgate pic if so, and I can't see it on that one.  It could just be a crack in the paint, he did say he painted it some time ago.

Commiserations about the zinc pest, btw.

It's actually scratches in the paint, and it was brush painted with Humbrol at least 14 years ago now

Parcel arrived safe and well Iain. Nice doing business with you :)
