tonedepear Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Been having a mini-tidy, and found my big folder full of old Saab brochures. It's taking ages, but here's the first of several. There's some gold lurking, but I'm off out to Stoke v Besiktas in a wee while, so most will have to wait... SAAB "The Range" - 1982 range_1982_1 by Tony Lloyd, on Flickrrange_1982_2 by Tony Lloyd, on Flickrrange_1982_3 by Tony Lloyd, on Flickrrange_1982_4 by Tony Lloyd, on Flickrrange_1982_5 by Tony Lloyd, on Flickr Hopefully the quality is decent enough. Scanner isn't the best, nor are my post-scanning processing skillz.

trigger Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 They look great on Mini-lites! Thanks for sharing.
Shep Shepherd Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Absolutely amazing. Thanks for taking the time to scan the images Perhaps I should scan some of my 1975-85 Volvo 240 saloon brochures at some point to compliment them? They're not as interesting or bold, but they are nice nonetheless
tonedepear Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 I have the "The Range" pamphlets for 84 and 86 as well. And the '90' brochure, which I love cos it's one of my fave cars evar. I'll get round to them at some point, but the scanner and my pc are both in my bedroom, and it's 27 degrees in here, so I might take a break for a bit. I think I have the original 9000 launch brochure too. The accessories one is the cream of the lot though, I reckon. The Su Pollard look-a-likes make it for me. Edit: It's not the 9000 launch, it's the 900 launch. Ach, like I've owt better to do this afternoon...
Shep Shepherd Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 I look forward to seeing them on here at some point
Pete-M Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Mustard mitt, despite not being much of a Saab fan, I do think that early Turbos in metallic brown look bloody great.
R9UKE Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Love the chocolate lime effect seat cover That would have been my choice.
tonedepear Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 All double spreads and fold-outs, the 900 launch brochure was an absolute bastard to scan. Worth it for some real nuggets of finest green, though. CreepingJesus Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Thanks for posting these: I love it all. But I want that mobile telephone!
r.welfare Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Why spring for the Inca alloys when you can get a set of trims that look identical? Awesome!
tonedepear Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 And here's mine in the wild: IMAG1077 by Tony Lloyd, on Flickr Lovely design, apart from the holes available in the 900 badge used to create the thing are barely big enough to hold any pens...
tonedepear Posted September 30, 2011 Author Posted September 30, 2011 Now I want a Saab.Damn. There's worse things to want. And you can pick a mid-90s shit-box one up for about 10p at the minute.
The Moog Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 And here's mine in the wild: Lovely design, apart from the holes available in the 900 badge used to create the thing are barely big enough to hold any pens... I want one of those! Goes straight to Ebay...

Gompo Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Still hoping decent 2.3 9000s will be affordable when I can be arsed to buy one.. I'd obviously do a late 3 door 900 FPT too but that's even less likely. Cheers for your work.
Guest Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Hi all,I just got a couple of great shawl collar cardigans, plain front with front pockets, where i can buy it??
Baz Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Mustard mitt, despite not being much of a Saab fan, I do think that early Turbos in metallic brown look bloody great. I agree....During my childhood, my uncle was a Road-Tester for Which? (Surely the best job ever? He had a different car every week!)....I once asked him what his favourite was, and he said "Saab 900 Turbo"....I eventually got to drive one, and was really disappointed....Hated it....I think those earlier Saabs are a lot like the Citroens of the era: You love them, or you hate them! Having said that....The brown Turbo Saloon at the start looks fantastic!
HillmanImp Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 I think those earlier Saabs are a lot like the Citroens of the era: You love them, or you hate them! The 91 Saab 900 which DollyWobbler and M'Coli had before me. Both of them found that it did not really float their boat. Even though they did not gel with it, I loved it. I would definitely have another but would probably go for a Turbo.
M'coli Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 Can I correct you there, Scotty? I loved it, but found it too long and too thirsty, and fancied something else too.
