Well he's a copper and he was on duty (don't tell  ) when he took this pic, so if the person saw him sticking a note on it they'd probably expect the worse.

Shall I leave a note? I'm tempted now. It's in Bangor, Mr Duke should get it for his next motor

They should do a damien hurst and set it in a massive rectangular block of resin so it can be preserved then stick it outside some part worn tyre centre to be appreciated by future shiters.

Bollocks to that. I'd be choosing a nice hot day and driving to a Ferrari Club GB concours event with a 'Best of 10cc' cassette rammed into the Radiomobile. Imagine the look of horror from the middle aged farts-in-slacks as you rocked up in that. :D

I thought it might be interesting to see how much longer it's lasted than its 'plate neighbours':

None of them Chevettes, but all died within a short period, over 23 years ago...

Haha, the guy in that maroon one is unbelievably grim!

That is (or was, once) the same colour as the one owned by a teacher in my junior school, which was the last Chevette I can recall in regular use around these parts and that was pushing 20 years ago

He actually looks like he probably has a packet of sweets on the passenger seat and some pictures of his puppy on the parcel shelf.

he looks like the guy who runs the scrapyard/bacon roll van near Long Sutton in Lincs - right miserable bugger

Yes Louise, either you or your partner must leave a note, even if your partner is on duty, if the owner sees him sticking a note on they will at least want to see it and probably be thankful its only someone taking an interest/appreciating in thier car, you never know it may get them to stop and think about what they have and that it is appreciated for what it is, and not everyone is a 'new' car lover.

There have been a fair few times where I've seen an old car that I liked and been tempted for leave a note but did not, only for the car to have disappeared from the roads for good a few weeks later. Like a local Rover 820i driven a by a young chap, I used to see it floating about and always meant to leave a note or speak to the onwer, eventually I found it in a scrapyard, it had been scrapped, allegedly, due to only needing a filler neck or something, I guess had I left a note or something the owner might have got in contact with me and I might have been help him and stop the car from being scrapped, even if I couldnt, I know that I would have at least tried.
