Sister got married last weekend. What better way to transport the guests than...

Mk3 Transit circa 1989. I took a bunch of pictures, they don't make 'em like this any more

Interior was very tidy

Obviously had a sheltered life

Quite possibly genuine going by condition of steering wheel/gearknob/pedal rubbers

Manual choke!

Pinto boat anchor

Carb looks like a replacement, surely these didn't have a VV as standard? Nice fibreglass repair to airbox

Still had all four original wheel trims

Despite the unimpressive fuel consumption I'd quite happily hire that again, even with mileage that low it was much more of a challenge to drive smoothly than the modern TDCi equivalent. Doubt there's many places in the world still hiring out petrol minibuses!

Oooh, that is nice. Is that the original factory wax on the bulkhead, too? You must have pretty relaxed motoring laws there, I'd imagine as the lack of rear seats belts would have seen the H&S Nazis go radio in good old Blighty.

Definate contender for next years Autoshite calendar too.

They did until recently! I did London-Birmingham in a LDV Maxus minibus last year; a very 'retro' experience... 8)

Oh yes indeed, get that on a boat back over here to me, a 2 litre Tranny would do nicely, for absolutely no reason atall other than i love it!

I remember we had two similarly minty fresh ex British Airways Transit Di Jetstart with those low backed seats, D130 ALX and K963 PLK. The D-reg beat that hands down... genuine mileage from new: 6752. That was AFTER we were finished with it... suspect it probably ended up cut up as most old airporty type things do.

up until couple years ago we would borrow the residentials ex-staff minis bus that was a grotter on an e'reg with same lump had no seats and we ragged on road and off road.... :P

Timewarp motor, that. I recall looking after some rentals like that, years ago. Dead easy to look after - if the seating area got too grotty, just open all the doors, and get busy with the steam lance...
