BMC Dan Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Any other shiters attending? I'll be there with my K10 but only spectating as I didn't book in time. http://www.classicsonthecommon.com/
flat4alfa Posted July 25, 2011 Posted July 25, 2011 Jehovah on a bike! July stopped raining and it's gonna be a dry show for once! I'll be in the MaxiWas going to be in the Alfa 6 but PAS pump still at the menders, grrrrr
outlaw118 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Cool, went two years ago, was splendid.Typically I've got a 6am start on wednesday, 100 mile drive, meeting all day, then 100 miles back to base. In an XUD powered Citroen Dispatch. Don't expect to be back in Essex much before 6.30, then I'll be too grumpy to be allowed out.
Rocket88 Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Set fire alarm off at meeting at about 2.30 pm................................
Andrew353w Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Just seen this thread and MIGHT come and have a look. Often get to the Croxley Green meetings but haven't been to a Harpenden one, so it might be fun....
scooters Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 It's a cracker - I no longer stay in Harpenden as I have no requirement to be in the south of England these days but have been every year for the last four and took the old Volver 144 last year. The only prob is that it is so huge if you want to show your car you have to book a ticket in May...email them and you get on the mailing list. Lots of interesting stuff alongside the usual MG Stag Yawn
hairnet Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 did this previously do i do ireland or this......... ffs!!!!!
Captain Grey Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Weather permitting, I'll be there in my very shabby Citroen Mehari. It says it's full up, which is 1,200 entrants, so even allowing for several hundred Stags, it should be an interesting mooch about.
dollywobbler Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Seconded. Do I know you? (I do know a few people with shabby Meharis!)
Captain Grey Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Welcome to the site, Captain Grey. Any pics of the Mehari? Thanks Guys. I love this site but just don't seem to get round to posting. I'm sure I can sneak a Mehari pic or two in from Harpenden...... Seconded. Do I know you? (I do know a few people with shabby Meharis!) I have had a few 2CV's in the past and have been known to attend the odd event in a field. If you are in the 2CV gang, the Mehari is ex-Jono H
andrew e Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 I went by boat last year Well worth a trip if your not delivering your daughter to guide camp - why is this house full of women FFS
dollywobbler Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Ah, I certainly know the car then! Deliciously shabby. In fact, I've just remembered who bought it from him - and I can vaguely remember you from my early 2CVing days back in the late 1990s. We probably didn't speak because I was very shy then... (The Woodman, Chapmore End ring a bell?)
flat4alfa Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Often get to the Croxley Green meetings but haven't been to a Harpenden one, so it might be fun....Oh it's triple the size of Croxley! Plus the pubs are there, right there, and not just that pair at the far end of the Green, miles away
andrew e Posted July 26, 2011 Posted July 26, 2011 Me and mate got chatted up by 2 Brett Sinclair lookalikes last year - you boys must be soaked through.... I'm 36!
Andrew353w Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 We've just returned from the "Classics in The Park" in Harpenden and have had a great evening! We travelled there by train from Elstree & Borehamstiff, as I didn't fancy our chances of parking-just as well! The show was spread over a huge area and there was loads to see! Attached are perhaps not the smartest of vehicles, but then again, this IS Autoshite... This I TOTALLY loved! I normally have an intense dislike of all things B.M.W., but this little cutie made me change my mind...(I should explain that SHMBO is on the right, munching chips!) Although this Minivan looks good in the picture, it had just the right amount of crunchiness to make it an everyday usable car and I loved it! This lovely old Ford Prefect looked well lived in, too! I don't normally go a big deal with Shoveits, but this one was very tasteful. As anyone who has followed my threads in the past knows, I DO do eastern European stuff; this was all I could find, though! Lastly in my collection is this beige Mk2 Escort; it was totally original & looked unmolested! Consequently it won my "Autoshite car of the day" award! The odd thing was that people were all walking past it making comments such as "what's that doing here?" & "it looks so ordinary" etc. Clearly they don't get Autoshite! All in all not a bad evening out, followed by a few beers in "The George" in Harpenden High Street-nice one!
BMC Dan Posted July 27, 2011 Author Posted July 27, 2011 Was an enjoyable afternoon/evening alright, arrived there at 2 and was lucky enough to get a space outside the town hall opposite one of the show fields. My favourite bit was seeing Boobydoo's Alpine parked up with a load of 90's Ferraris
Captain Grey Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 That was a top afternoon / evening out. Lots of nice motors to look at. Here's some that caught my eye:

barrett Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 Crikey, are those patches on the 613 riveted on? Proper job that!
flat4alfa Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 ^ Hey! There's a Seth on this page. Some pics from a friend of mine Noteworthy are the Trojan, the Giulietta, the Sherpacharged 'Bentley'. And of course the 'shabby Mehari'
boobydoo Posted July 30, 2011 Posted July 30, 2011 My favourite bit was seeing Boobydoo's Alpine parked up with a load of 90's Ferraris Heh, heh, you should have seen their faces when they were told to park next to me. Stuck up twunts. I don't know how they're allowed in anyway as it states that cars have to be 20+ years old. Must be part of some funny handshake club to do with Harpenden Rotary
