Wow, I got it wrong, it was a Spyder! Forgot all about those, which is a crime as I always fancied one...

As for the next one, I might need to apply a coat or two of deep thought....

Is that white heap a Simca 1501?

If so, where the hell is it, is it even vaguely saveable and why hasn't boobydoo bought it yet? RHD ffs!

Posted

^that's what I thought too^

If so, then WTF??? Where was that photo taken?

wow well done chaps daihatsu compagno it is i'm impressed, its a very rare uk spec version one of the first jap cars imported into this country.

i will post some more pics of it tonight when i get home

again well done fellas 8)

Please tell me it will be saved!

Looking forward to the pics by the way.

Is that Compagno in the UK, and is that a recent pic? If it is it represents a 50% increase in the UK Compagno population - from 2 to 3. It was the first Japanese car sold in the UK.

as promised extra pics of daihatsu compagno, these pics where taken yesterday in north yorkshire it belongs to my employer and its been stood a very long time

i think it needs saving due to its rarity there aren't many on these shores, the best of luck to anybody wishing to buy it my employer can be a difficult man to deal with, shame really  it needs to live not fester away slowly

cool little cars, thanks for flyer interesting stuff shame theres not more of em about :(

poor thing has been part of the furniture around here for years along with the lancia in the previous pics ,not something i would personally take on board as a project, i bet parts availability would be tricky i just searched ebay and found 6 bits listed worldwide  and this is not a complete car!

That's incredible, I don't think I was even aware a four door model was available

That needs to be saved ASAP, can't you just kill your boss and steal his stuff? I'm not saying that should be your first option or anything, but keep it in mind

anyways the gaffers not a bad bloke and a mine of information on old cars and also has a substantial collection of vintage and classic race and rally cars

Well if it's one of the original UK cars, it's the only four-door survivor. The other two are two-doors - one was sold on ebay earller this year as an unfinished resto; the other was restored by IM Group (Daihatsu importer, though they've stopped imports now) about a decade ago. The original importer only sold a handful of cars - about 50. It's possible others were imported later. In any case, it's rocking horse shit rare, and needs conserving at the very least!

This is IM group's Compagno. It's still on the road

Suspect the owner knows all this -and will want 'silly numbers''.

However- I'll express a financial interest -without much hope.

Even if I can start on it in the near future, i can give it a warm dry home..

hmmm right then gaffer suprised me today the daihatsu maybe up for sale to a good home,i must have caught him on a good day :D

i didnt expect this thread to turn into a for sale thread but there you go!.if anybody is interested in this vehicle let me know i will try to get some more photos of interior and under bonnet etc i might have to cut the grass :)

i am assured he still has docs for it and there are some parts in the boot no idea what, but he did say the front bumper was missing,i would also expect the brakes to be seized dont know about the engine i will try to find the keys

if there is enough interest i may be able to arrange some viewings so you all know what you are up against,i offered to put it on ebay on his behalf and let interested parties bid whatever they feel its worth,he wouldnt commit to a price as i am sure you are aware its difficult to put a value on a car like this but i think he would be happy with whatever he could get for it.

it would be nice to see this little car saved,as i say i will have look round it and take lots of pics if theres any interest

the car is in bedale north yorkshire very close to the a1,please pm me if you are interested and please remember i am the middle man in this but prepared to do a bit of legwork to ensure the car is saved

cheers marc
