First shout for shiters - octavia for sale

My parents have decided to get a newer car, the dealer doesn't want their 2000 1.6 petrol octavia so it falls to me to punt it on for them. So, if anyone has about £600 it saves me making any effort to shift it.

Good points - Never been a taxi (it's a petrol one), always serviced and looked after (by me), Front tyres were brand new a month ago. Sony CD/mp3 player. Drives fine, always reliable. Aftermarket (cobra?) alarm immobilizer with remote locking and stuff. Tax is November, Test is next March (I think)

Bad points - several scratches and dents, including a bigish one to the front edge of the driver's sill where my dad jacked it up. Airbag light is on. Driver's side rear door doesn't open with the central locking. Makes some interesting clonking noises at times, but I can't see anything wrong underneath.

I'll get photos tomorrow when I drop their "new" Focus off.

ooh, another car I have always liked!! Where is it?

It will be in county durham tomorrow. I'm prepared to drive it to the train station though....

Bah, I'll be in Durham tomorrow too. Although I don't have £600. Unless you'd/they'd swap it for a scruffy Proton Impian you/they don't need.

Posted

Thanks, but that seems a bit pointless. If I wanted/needed an early 2000s scruffy runaround I'd keep the skoda!

Dang.... thats too cheap

want to swap for a sierra?

Posted

Strictly speaking, it's still MY sierra! But I'll flog you the skod instead if you want.

Trouble is, that sierra might well turn into an Albatross. Unless Albert Ross wants to buy it? It's caavestate's old sapph LX.

ive just had a slap from SWMBO for even suggesting it, so i ll go with the sierra

I can't entertain any more cars right now.... I was just mulling over what to do with the crap I already have accumulating on the "drive". MY Sapphire is white.... definitely an Albatross.

Did you try telling her it's really a big golf with skoda badges?

Posted

Would you swap it for a non running Scorpio 24V, and the Sapphire? Neither have any documents like...... both have flat batteries, and I have Sierra doors and a fuel tank to go with it.

i didnt tell her it was a skodia, just told her it wasnt the seirra that she went to the post office in a couple of weeks ago, which she (unbeknown to me) obviously liked after being passenger in a noisy grunting scimitar and a rattling wheezing cortina for the last year :D

It's tempting, but...

Dead scorpio 24v

Equally dead white sierra.

I still might though, but I need to make space and money first (both of these are in short supply)

A5 - good news then! She likes the sierra. Bonus.

Ok, I now have the skoda, and I've taken a few photos.

Bloody hell, for six hundred rips that looks a right bargain.

It's only that cheap because I can't be arsed selling it properly and just want rid quickly!

Oh!! If only there hadn't been that massive earthquake in Japan i'd defo have had this.

I thought the Toon Army did most of the damage? That's what the BBC subtitles said, anyway. I can assure you absolutely that no Newcastle fans have been in this car since at least 2006. Also, in the 5 years they owned it my parents' house has not been destroyed by seismic activity or washed away by the sea so I am SURE that the skoda will provide adequate protection against natural disaster for a long time yet.

That reminds me 103,000 miles on the clock. Or, 20 past 8. depends which clock you are looking at.

I'd tap it in a slighty nervous manner. If it was a red, diesel, Montego, in Wales, I'd definitely have it.

I thought these were based on the Passat, but it turns out they're Golf based! I'd love this but I'm contractually obliged to care for my elderly Audi until becomes lame and has to be destroyed. The damn thing just won't die, this is painful as I like a bargain!
