The Frontera came back from the MoT with a ticket and a comment that the underside is rusty. Here is a pic ...

Chances are that it's 97.43% odds on that it's going to be sold so I don't want to spend a fortune on it. A fella I know with a garage said he'd put it on a lift and waxoyl it. He hasn't given me a price but I bet it won't be cheap. Would spraying black waxoyl on it stop the rust or just conceal it? I was thinking about slapping some converter on but Kurust comes in pots about as big as an eggcup whereas I probably need a bucketful.

Any suggestions to get it looking presentable at minimal cost?

Used engine oil.

A) Kurust.

B) Waxoil.

C) Sell it to me.

Loosen the sump plug and go for a fast drive.

Remember to stop before you're completely out of oil though.

Waxoyl claims to neutralise rust, but kurust is basically phosphoric acid which you can get off ebay in 5l jugs for about £18. Or in gel form for about £20 for half that.

Ramps? I did a Frontera sport on a lump of 2x4 on the edge of a kerb, then spun it round. Kurst, then black bitumen, followed by dirt.

Looking at that, some of it (or most of it) looks beyond waxoyl treatments. It wants stripping down, the suspension components need sand blasting, the floor needs gringing back, re sealing and then waxoyling, and then it all needs re-assembling with new bolts and bushes.

It all looks pretty dark rust (usually meaning quite deep in the metal).

Looks to be in its twilight year/s if left as is.

If you were of a nefarious persuasion, you'd be under there with a rattle can of black Stonechip...............
