Omegas etc- a miserable story that ends miserably

If it's just for work why don't you get a moped, motorbike or scooter?

I need a car because I will have to travel quite a bit around the UK...But in any event my balance is terrible! I did look into a pushtrike (now that IS shite) for moving around town, but it's impossibly hilly round here.

decide what you want, look up all its faults on the internet and go buy one! Simple.

If it's too much hassle where you are in terms of parking and hills then move! But Just go buy a car*

*other transport options are available including hitch-hiking.

nop...Of the stuff I've been out to view, I'd love that 480 (just for pure shiteness/mockery of the environazism), but the (engine mount?) rattle was scary indeed. Will be viewing an S40 tonight, it's local and it seems to have history and the toys so it could be just what I need for the moment. Unless I go mad and buy them both :P

*Vomits*

Hateful horrible nasty, cheaply designed and manufactured underpowered piece of shit, not shite, shit.

Rev-Pez - Think I've found my Metro.

Owned a petrol one (never mind gas), and even knew someone on the design team for them. Designed as a $1000 car to produce. and it shows, really it does.

Large amounts of Class A's, and you would still run well clear..

I've driven a few US rental cars that were Neons and I can't say I found them that bad - always considered the Sebring to be a much cheaper feeling car.

The engine is /was (?) Mitsubishi based, so in theory it shouldn't be too unreliable - what's the main beef with them then?

Posted

I quite like the style of the facelifted Neon to be honest.

Not saying I'd buy one of course

I had an R/T Neon and I liked it. It cost me £700 with a year MOT and I happily drove around in it revving the nuts off it.

Omega's are peasant fodder, and anyone considering a purchase should seek a pshyciatric evaluation.... Whilst the french are best off surrendering or making small city cars......

Live up to you'r user-name and lets see some Luxobarges; JAGS, AUDI's, MERC'S, BM's;

Fed up with spending loads of time and money thinking about this crap, I have viewed, driven (a bit) and agreed to buy a pile of rubbish that goes by the name of Volvo S40 GAY-FULE.

Pros:

- It's local.

- It's a trader so I'm covered in case it goes tits-up before coming back home.

- It's silver, 52-plate, and has a factory fit conversion, and therefore can be flogged on when, after 3 minutes of driving it, I decide to get rid.

- It has working cruise and aircon.

- Should be reasonably reliable.

Cons:

- It's a plasticky heap of shit.

- I had to pay extra for them to get the cambelt done, so it came out at 1850, which is far too much for a plasticky heap of shit.

I can't see myself securing a garage...so does anyone want an Accord (I wouldn't)?

Sims metal management?

Yes, I guess that's where it'll end up as the dealer said he doesn't really trade in this kind of shite and can only give me 200 and "pass it on to another trader" (so WTF was that Rover 600 doing at the back of the yard?). A shame really as all the major bits still work fine.

Posted

Will a scrap yard give you more than £200? I 'd be inclined to leave it to leave it at the trader's for that.

Cheer up anyway - an S40's no more 'plasticky' than a Omega and the big Pugs would probably have been a nightmare.

Posted

I thought the going rate was a bit higher, but probably makes sense to stick with the trader, if only to avoid the misanthropy that the bus trip back from Rotherham would make me feel.

The story ain't ended 'til we have picturez.

Preferably with the time & date stamp in the time honoured style of Cavette.

It's not like you bought that Neon, although you should have, for shite kudos.

I bought it from someone in Motherwell who'd had it a couple of years but it'd spent the first 5 years of it's life in Ladhope Crescent in Gala, which is a bit weird. It was bought new/newish from that Chrysler/Jeep dealership in Selkirk, which is now a discount clothing outlet next to the overpriced soup outlet.

I'll pick it up next week- wouldn't like to send everyone to sleep, but I 'll post a couple.

Put the Honda up for sale on here and see if there's any takers.

Posted

So, to sum up, you've bought an LPG powered, Swedish badged, Dutch built Mitsubishi Carisma for over the odds, paid extra to get the cambelt done, and schlepped in your Honda Accord.

Congratulations.

Now, when are you gonna buy a Luxobarge?

Posted

Engine points the wrong way to be a barge. You sold out. Luxobarges aint you. I have a dead luxobarge on the drive. I should take the name off you.

That FSH 51 Plate Merc E240 I posted earlier sold for £1500 as well. For shame.
