Saab 900 Turbo cutting out

I seem to have an intermittent fault on the saab. When it gets hot and under load the engine just dies. If I wait 45 minutes or so then it will start again. At first I thought it was over pressure boost switch but when it happened yesterday I checked and it had no spark from coil. New coil fitted and still the same. Checked the spark again and it is a better colour than before it is still yellow. Checked it from the king HT lead.

Tried replicating the effect on cold engine by putting it under load but doesnt happen. It seems as if getting warm means something is breaking down.

Took Ignition Amp off tonight and gave it a WD40 coating and checked connectors. I think that it is a spare one because it has a code on it in tippex (which normally means breakers). Is it worth changing this?

Any other ideas before I book it in to get looked at? I don't want to spend ££ chasing this as I hate flipping electrics..

Yes done. Asked there first. They tend to be a bit more modern saabs though. Saabcentral used to be better for C900 but can be very American :)

Thought you clever people might know.

I'd suspect crank sensor or the ignition module - both will give pretty much identical symptoms.

Try the simplest of things - the rotor arm. It's the only time mine stopped on me (we were only a mile or so from home!).

Already fitted new HT leads, Dist cap, Rotor arm and sparkplugs.

I'd plump for the ignition amp myself. Sounds right sort of failure symptoms for it to be that ( to me anyway)

New ones of these can still develop faults, though; trying different new ones eliminate the possibility that they're donald ducked.

Some good suggestions. Will try them and see how i get on.

It is electronic ignition so no condoner but Hall sensor instead.
