Astra shite for sale.

1997 Astra (Mk3) 1.4LS hatchback. 12 months MOT (as of today), taxed until end of April but can either tax at new owner's cost or negotiate a price or something.

90,000 miles on the clock, runs superbly (well, as good as an Astra can) and is cheap to tax, run and insure.

Recent valet inside/out, it's REALLY tidy. The MOT fella said it was the cleanest he'd seen in years in fact.

Five door, five speed box, sunroof, power steering, central locking, keep fit windows, nice (Vauxhall) alloys. Looks like it's not long had a new rear exhaust and three new tyres.

I've replaced a power steering pipe (second hand but works fine) and exhaust heat shield, sprayed the n/s door mirror (which should have been colour coded), replaced the plastic grille thing (still doesn't sit properly), put a decent battery on it and touched up a couple of areas.

Done a good hundred or so miles in it recently so I know it drives well.

Known faults:

Couple of dings etc as you'd expect (but it's way, way above average for age), rear washer seems to have packed up (blocked pipe?), one tyre will want replacing before too long and I don't know when the cam belt was last changed though I was told it was within the last 8,000 miles-take that with a pinch of salt though as I don't have any concrete proof of this.

£595 or offers*, naturally an Autoshite discount will apply. Car is in Chester, Cheshire close to the M56/M53/etc.

*No, it's not the cheapest one out there but I reckon you'll struggle to find a nicer one, especially at this sort of money.

Mk3 Vauxhall Astra in 'not fucked' shocker!

That gearknob is seriously offensive!

Cheers Dave.

Warren: yeah, it's right nasty. I meant to get an original one from the scrappy but forgot. The CD player is bloody horrible looking too.

Yeah, I was going to have it, but the knob offended me too much. And it's too new. And I don't need it. Nice colour though!

YH SOZ ABOUT THAT.

Deal clincher of the year: I bought some nice brand new mats for it yesterday. From the pound shop.

Posted
You've got the whole car in some of these pictures!

Yeah, and the sun's shining. What ye tranna dooh Billy, give us heart failure?

Posted

You could just lie and say someone else took them! Poundshop floor mats FTW! :D

Posted

Please tell me the floor mats are those natty chrome checker plate effect jobbies?

Posted

Bollocks to that, they're about eight quid a set, or something exhorbitant like that.

These are rather natty* rubber efforts with no little nipple-y bits underneath so the bastards slide round like a greased up deer on an ice skating rink. Well I say rubber but they have as much composition as Aldi wafer thin ham which has been sliced ten fold. And the analagy doesn't end there because I'd put a pound to a piece of shit they taste nicer than Aldi ham. Maybe I should put the ham on the floor and eat the mats?

Cheap tax FTMFW!

A nice honest little motor for someone there. Well done on the new ticket - not too much stress there. Worth every penny I'd say, and a nice beer for you after what you paid! (That's if it sells anywhere near asking.)

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

The driver's one ends up halfway up the bulkhead after 5 miles!

Would it help the sale if I mentioned I fancy getting a Frontender SWB 'Sport' if the Astra goes? Thought not.

Nothing wrong with that,I think about it myself often, though every time I mention it teh Doc and Mr JKW chain me to a chair and beat my knackers with a stout stick till I promise not to.

As a sweetener for my fellow shiters (and because I've consumed a bit of ale today) I'm prepared to lob in six months tax within the asking price. Form an orderly queue please.

A Fronterror? You're a sick, sick puppy.

Quick, someone buy his Astra!

Bloody hell, I had to tax the Heep today. £118.25. I'm sure it goes up every six months.

Posted

It does, This month I've had to tax the Escort for 6 months (£118) and the Mondeo for the year (£165), no wonder I'm skint.

Posted

£118.00 for the BMW, £72.00 (or something like that) for the Astra, Cortina free and the Vespa's tax, MOT and insurance are out. DVLA must be pissing themselves.

Posted

I'm gonna have to stagger my tax discs. The Heep was today, the Jag is the end of June, the Escort should be here in July or August (yeah, right) and the 604 will hopefully be MOT'd by the end of May. This is getting bloody expensive.

Other than the Escort - which should be on the cheap pre-2001 band (woo) they're all £118 for six months. Bollocks to payin' for a year.

Posted
Isn't the Escort a 1600 though Pete?

Nope, tis a 1300 Spurt.

It'll be a 2.0 as soon as I get the chance though. Possibly Zetec with injection :)

Posted

I'm gonna have to do the same tax disc wise. I'm having to spuff a load of my MONEYZ into savings so that I can pay for next year at Uni.

Amazon = tax exempt, but SORN'ed like horn porn.

480 = SORN, soon to be MOT'd but is £118.75 for six months. (and no doubt I'll have the same palarver taxing it at the PO because it appears as an 'extra' on the Amazon's policy).

other 480 = SORN and soon to die

C4 = £95 for 12 months but soon to change (or something)

305 = £118.75 AGAIN which I need to stump up for up front. (merde).

Hey Wat, don't worry about the pain of taxing your car/s. Drop me a pm when required and I'll sort it on my trade insurance if needed.

It'll still be a 1300 tho, right?
