Can anyone help with a computer problem please?

Any computer bods on here explain why when I press either a t or g or y or h on my keyboard it prints the letter next to it aswell?

For example:

Cat high on draughty mat

would read

Catg yhitgyh on drautgyhtgyh matg

It's doing my head in deleting all the unwanted letters!! I've taken the keys off but cant see anything wrong. Is my laptop just f**ked?

Sounds like the keyboard is buggered. You can replace laptop keyboards but it's harder and a lot more expensive than replacing a PC keyboard. I paid about £35 the last time I bought one IIRC.

Looks like you're typing Welsh. Have you had leeks for tea or been looking at daffodils for too long today?

A USB keyboard would be a cheap and easy fix.

I have a shitload of computer parts - what make and model is the laptop?

Also, getting laptops repaired can be a rip-off. The wee girl that lives next door to me was quoted £105+VAT for a keyboard for her F-S Lifebook. I got a new one on eBay for £14 all in, and it took 5 minutes flat to fit.

+1... I kill laptop keyboards rather regularly, eBay plus fit-it-yourself is teh winz. Google your model number to find out how it comes out.

It's a FUJITSU-SIEMENS Amilo Pi 2515.

It's about 5 years old I think.

Do you have any Asus eee keyboards?

Leonard - I'll take a look.

Boobydoo - Keyboards on Amilo's are a piece of piss to fit, look on eBay for one, and when you get it I'll tell you how to fit it.

Do you know how to put XP on them, since the standard install has become obsolete?

Why on earth would you want XP then? I find most Linux distros work straight away on my 701...

oh and put me down for a keyboard too if you have any ;)

Mine has easypeasy on it. XP can fuck right off.

I have an asus eeepc

it's the 701 with only 2G hard drive

I put debian and LXDE on it and it runs great

you can probably acheive the same thing with Lubuntu

if you insist on Windows then I believe that the thing to do is use standard XP and nlite it

Loads of 701 keyboards on eBay

I run xp on a 901 with no issues.

I tripped over my mouse cable (my L/T gets thrown ito the corner most nights) and now I have to really smack the keyboard buttons or most presses don't happen and it's pissing me right off.
