Cars made with mudflaps as standard

Which shite cars have come with mudflaps fitted as standard? I can only think of the Lada Samara, which for some reason ALWAYS had mudflaps. :?

CX Gtis and my BX Gti has four mudflaps factory fitted - citroen ones of the 80's are cool with "Citroen" in white along the bottom

First series Nissan Micra K11 ALL had flaps, later ones had them deleted.

I believe some in Countries mudflaps were mandatory, poor roads covered in crap, would have been the case with Lada / FSO, that kind of thing. Helped prevent rust if there were 4 of them.

I think every car should have mudflaps... they look great! However I don't really think they serve a purpose anymore as most cars are sufficiently rustproofed to not need them.

In fact, most aftermarket ones just become dirt-traps anyway and probably cause more corrosion.

I always insisted on mudflaps on my company demos, for which people took the piss ...especially when I put them on new Merc SLKs and the like.

My Chrysler 2-Litre is the only car I have at the moment with any on....four proper Chrysler ones...but they actually look a bit minging.... :?

Does make a difference if you are behind one on the road on a wet day, in terms of spray thrown up at you.

My Maestro had them on all four wheels, and as it's a base model I assume they all did. It only has three now though, as one of the front wheelarches has rusted away where the mudflap is mounted and it came off while I was washing it

all skoda estelles had them i think, and, i seem to remember never seeing a bluebird without, excpet turbo or kitted executives. old subarus i seem to remeber had them if they were 4x4s, pre legacy L series. i could be speaking absolute shite of course. :)

Add 2CVs and Dyanes to that list - though only on the front wings. Primarily to stop them chucking road filth down their own sides I think.

Most Volvos made before the 1990s were fitted with at least one pair of mudflaps as standard, as they were a legal requirement in Sweden. Ditto Saabs:

Personally, I think that mudflaps look good and serve a useful purpose. Ergo, all of my cars have had a full set fitted :)

All Merc 190s seem to have those little short type mudflaps, also I don't think I've seen a Jag S or X Type sans mudflaps.

My Dad's 240 was a later one on an F, and it had tiny mudflaps as standard.

They didnt look like they had a chance against what the big tryes would throw up!

Mum_L had a base model Metro then a later city. One of the few things they had were mud flaps, so were they standard across the range?

Nearly every old Japanese car I can think of.

Echo that post about mudflaps trapping dirt and causing their own rust - happened on my old XJ40, and on my Nova saloon years ago. I thinks it's true that corrosion prevention has improved and negated the need for flaps, I suppose also so many cars are (especially at the rear) all fibreglass below the wheelarch.

That reminds me, where I grew up was a big caravan showroom called Welland Holiday Hire, and when I was a nipper they had a couple of 240 estates, both fitted with full-width coach style mudflaps to as not to spray the new caravans with grit, chippings, mud and all that. A bit like this puppy:

I remember that a full set of original mudflaps was one of Quentin Wilson's fetishes, when he was giving tips on how to find a 'cosseted' original example of something like a f-reg Merc 190e 1.9 or BMW 525e.
