Shite spec. Sorted. Nowt ridiculous here! Getting in might be a different manner. Not sure I can do it gracefully. The BL-shite accumulation continues!

if you EVA get bored of it I'll buy it!

I remember many years ago having a brown one of these come into work for a respray, (BMX ***T) The owner wanted it painted BRG, I preferred the brown myself but it was my job for the next 3 weeks to strip it totally down and prep it for the paint job, came out looking nice in the end.

Still not sure if I'd fancy one myself (Plus being 6ft doesn't help neither)

Sadly I've recently given away the various Triumph 1500 engines I had littering the place or I'd have been able to offer you the inevitable spares required.

Dare I say this is an A35 convertible? Hope it does well to shake off the recent down moments.

The rubber bumpers look so much better than the chrome ones, I'm not just saying that to sound different. It seems to look in very good condition!

Seth and Pog have hit the nail on the head, an A35 replacement but I will look like Noddy, not even sure if I'll fit. I was after a Triumph bike for Europe but this seemed like a better bet for a trip to the South of France in a couple of weeks, I'm still looking for a Triumph though but only after I spend some cash on some seriously dull stuff!

You could spend some money making the Midget truly dire. How about swapping A35 front brakes on, and fitting an 803cc A series?

Ha ha. I sold mine cos I'm too fat for it.. Undignified exits are all the rage with these-esp if the roofs up.

South of France- you'll have no spine left.

REALLY looking forward to the stories here.

My worry is I'm too fat for it, I know I will look like a twat and on top of that I am convinced it will need to be a permanent convertible for me to get in and out of it. As for me being spineless, some have said...

I only intend to go to La Rochelle / Poitiers area, somewhere near you VWP if you fancy a cheeky lager, and I shall be taking RN's at a steady 50mph, probably.

Seth, if I still had the A35 I would love to pop it's lovely drum brakes with the long pedal travel!

I haven't even picked it up yet though so it might be the ex-organist Austin 1100 yet, got to be a classic though

That does look good, I think the colour suits it well, nice one.

I think the 1100 would be a fine car to travel to France in, it is comfortable despite being basic. The furthest I drove it was from Colwyn Bay to Stourbridge and I got out the other end without any aches or pains!!

Surely what you need for a trip to France is a Citroen BX covered in stripes? I can even put the yellow headlamp bulb covers back in. As it's you, I'd happily swap for the Midget. Kind I am.

Despite me not being a fan of these that does look pretty nice in that colour.

I can sympathise about size thing as I am currently dieting so that i can fit into the seats i just bought for the Imp. I can get in them but its a bit snug. I have plenty of time to go before there is any chance of them being in the car though.

Will look forward to hearing about a drive down to France in it. Is there any decent room for luggage?

Posted

Luggage. i bolted the spare wheel to the bootlid (thru the removed Octagon badge)-P6 style. Frees up a load of space for smalls in the (lockable?) boot.

Wanna borrow the Yugo? Style. pace, grace & economy -all rolled into one

Posted

My luggage requirements are notoriously sparse, it'll all fit behind the seats, I'll wear disposable pants and disolvable socks

Thanks for the unbelievably kind BX and Yugo offers BUT I am a great believer in flying the flag when going overseas, that's why I'm after a Triumph for the summer bike jaunt, I have a Suzuki GSX750F which was great but it has Suzuki on the tank.

I reckon the 1100 would be a better car for the trip but I am hoping the sun may get his hat on!
