Bodily she's looking fairly good, interior's really nice but mechanically a bit unknown, looking like new displacers & new clutch to start, the rear suspension has had wooden blocks shoved in hence the height. On the plus side I think the engine turns! My motor mojo is at a spectacularly low ebb at the mo so I shall just leave it to the professionals.....Les @ BL Transverse

Hey Mate,

That Maxi is lovely!!

I love Damask red and on the Maxi it looks really nice,i have an Allegro estate in the same colour scheme!

Keep us posted how it progresses.

Les is very knowledgeable on these so it will be in safe hands!!

Well done for saving it too, hope to see it going again soon!!

cheers

Shropshire registered-tastic.

You must be the number one Maxi save these days, hats off to you sir.

Wow, you love your Maxis. Excellent job again. Best of luck with her.

What? Why have I not seen this. I demand photos!

I think that's the first time I've seen a Maxi without the grille badge. Looks much better without it, in my opinion, gives it a vaguely Fiat look. Vaguely...

That does look very nice, I bet a good wash and polish would do wonders for the paintwork!

Hope the lack of mojo isn't being caused by a certain A35 :(

^ Holy Toledo, So much wantage on those estates!

oops - Sorry for the thread hijack Torsten

Good god no! The A35 is a little ray of sunshine!

All the very early ones had no badge, although this one seems to be a later one that's had it pinched.

Take a look between the young lady's legs (come on...) in this thread for a nice close up

Looks like somebody's made a start on barrying it!

To stop kids from nicking it to wear it on a chain around their neck? Nothing says Cool like a Maxi badge.

Also, this has been my fifth look at the Maxi photos today... don't know if that's  or 8) ?

Can't wait! I've already got a stack of brochures & some owner's manuals...

Belgium!

Belgium?

I was reading 'The Hitch-Hikers guide to the Galaxy' when I posted that.

Another fabulous save. I haven't seen a Maxi with vinyl seats for a very long time :)

I believe that it is called 'Leatherette'. I am quite likely wrong, but that is what my father used to call it when we had our Landcrab and then our Maxi!

It does not feel as harsh as vinyl to sit in (IMO). I sat in a Maxi with 'Leatherette' seats quite recently and seem very soft.

I had a good old ganderr at this last week at Les's (BL Transverse)

The interior is really nice - remarkably hard wearing

Vek and I were having a good old blether on the phone this week and he's refined his tastes to british and pre '79...you can't go wrong with that - me - I'm too influenced by eurotrash!

So is that what the Grace Jones song "Warm Leatherette" is all about - a Maxi's vinyl seats on a hot day? :P
