A few from the autumn/early winter.

Superb triwheeler that I managed to grab at the petrol station back in the day when it was only about £1.50 a litre:

Followed her out...

Another beauty from the same manufacturer:

It was open! (and inhabited by arachnids):

General area of quality Nottingham shite:

I think Oxford is a bit of a goldmine because the students drive a lot of shite (you know, dead Grandma's car).

Even the lady who drives this KG calls it 'The Gimp'!

Very well-done pink 'Piglet' which hangs out at our Sainsburys, improving the car park there:

She's thought of everything. Stunning Austin:

You wait all that time for a bus, then half-a-one comes along...

Happy Christmas everybody!

Yum, brown Robin. That Austin makes me wonder what's under the bonnet?

That Robin looks a bit like cat poo.

I do think that every effort should be made to surrepticiously (?) snap the drivers of these wonderful cars so we can see the sort of characters that are driving them. That Robin owner must've been a really hideous old crone, and I for one would like to have seen her.

I believe she did, indeed, fit your description, but obviously you have to be a bit careful. If you get caught photographing them you often have to explain that it's because you LOVE their piece of crap - they always think you're 'from the Council' and going to have it put down or something. Every spotter has a story (or two) about having to explain our interest. My worst was the chap who drove up, screeched to a halt, leapt out of his crap car and said 'WOY ARR YEW PHOTOGRAFFIN' MOY SISTAH'Z CARRRR?'

'Um, because I like it..?'

I'm sure that National was some sort of ticket office at one time. I remember seeing a picture of it in a book I have on the subject.

That National bus used to be in the ill-fated Transperience museum in Low Moor, Bradford. I remember sitting it when I went to visit the museum with my grandad about 12 years ago.

Apparently the bus had caught fire at the depot and the mid section was completely destroyed, they preserved the front end though. I think it spent some time at a theme park called Pleasureland before seemingly being dumped.

Shame to see it in such a state, really.

There's half a National in the Scottish Vintage Bus Museum, it's for children to play at driving in. I don't think it has a back though.

I do hope they covered up the sharp edges first..... 'Elf 'n' Safety!

I have read about that National before, truly bizzare thing to do, but clever at the same time! Sad to see it in that state though, although impressive it has survived that long. Good spots, loving the Audi and Prelude.

Oh do I so want that National! Saw it at Transperience many moons ago. I think I can conjure up the missing screens/hub if it was available.... Hmm.

That's true. When the Crapparazzi come looking for you, it's so bizzarre one doesn't know how to react. I once walked out of my employment agency with some compadres after a shift to find a stranger maniacally photographing my RS kitted Mondeo. I shouted "What are you doing?". He fled. Afternoon shoppers were treated to the sight of me, in a tracksuit and hoody, accompanied by 3 or 4 like minded Polish immigrant labourers in hot pursuit of the Ford fetishist. On Colchester High Street.

Didn't realise the half bus would arouse such interest. It is indeed at Wheelgate, a very shabby third rate 'funfair' ha, ha that unfortunate children can be taken to for punishment (near the White Post Roundabout on the A60 between Nottingham and Ollerton). No longer serving as the ticket office, it's now in the much more interesting Whitepost tip round the back. To give you a flavour of the place, here's the current ticket office:

next door. Steven King, eat your heart out.

I've taken many pictures in these inspiring places, but sorry! Off Topic in Autoshite...

Leyland National is the Autoshite bus of choice! I suspect a trip up to there in the near future...

Posted

Thanks for putting these up Ghiaman. I love Leyland Nationals, that Leyland National is wild, it should be preserved, surley the owner(s) could sell it to an enthusiast?

The Yellow Scimitar hasnt been taxed since 1994, looks as if it recently been taken out of one of those garages its parked by.

Any more word on the Autoshite track day... the Cavalier's a bit dead for now, but I'd bring down the ZOMG TURBO DRIFT WEAPON NOT AE86 TL11 powered ex Crosville Mk2 National down for a laugh...
