£0.31p/gallon, or just under £0.07p per litre.

Allowing for inflation adjustment calculator of 7.25 the present day equivalent of 1976 price is £2.24p/gallon or £0.49p/litre.  

In reality we're paying over double that price.

Jag IRS, mid-mounted Daimler hemi V8, and side exit exhausts.  1970s safety footwear.

V8 looks a big heavy lump, maybe a 4.5 from a Majestic Major rather than a 2.5 (?) but I really don't know for sure.
