There was a special edition R5 called the "Le Car" sold in the UK, in France this special edition was known as the "Laureate".  The "Le Car" was introduced in early '84 along with the "Laureate" so the one your talking about is probably a private import.

It was definitely the US version as it had the stupid impact bumpers. That's how we noticed it was different to all the usual R5's knocking around.

Those messrinas, never was the phrase more apt " you can't polish a third!"

Didn't know Simca 1000s were sold in NZ.

Simcas were built in small numbers at NZ Motor Bodies in Mt Wellington from 1960 – starting at a rate of 1.5 per day.

Not many survive, with only six Arondes – I found Number 7.

I found a few years ago on a bangernomics sure a post by someone who did up old cars in New Zealand.  Over the years he had an Austin Princess, Fiat 128 coupe & 126.

I’ll try to find a link.

I hadn't heard of these, I know Crayford had done some open top Capris.

The MK4 Cortina is from the brochure cover numbers quoted range from 20-40, I own number 9 of the 28 mk5's ( technically one one Mk5 was made by crayford the other 27 under licence by carbodies of Coventry).
