There's a story about the Mk3 Cortinas imported into Hong Kong being slightly too wide for some regulation so the wheelarches of the bodywork of all of the Cortinas were 'adapted to suit'. Not sure if true.

Yes the width of cars in Hong kongwas/is measured at the wait a clamp was bolted in the rear striker plt holes & the wings pulled in by a few mms.
