I can't say exactly when but I know where. It's the Rose Gardens outside the Civic Centre in Southampton. It was the Atlantean that gave it away. The Bristol VR could be from any NBC fleet but the Atlantean could only be a Southampton one.

The Rose Gardens were dug up many years ago to make way for a bigger road junction. Ah, progress.

Another view looking west. Civic Centre was on the right and the entrance to the Hants and Dorset bus station was on the left. This is how I remember it.

Some research says they got rid of it in 1987. Here it is being dug up.

And now we have this. 

The big brown blob in the bottom right corner is now a half empty shopping centre that they built on the site of the bus station. The new road is not an improvement. The Rose Gardens acted as a big roundabout, now we just have acres of tarmac with hundreds of traffic lights to impede progress.
