The "Scooters" comfort fit test

Scooters has mentioned in a thread that the car that has the best shoulder-window ledge-steering wheel distance for him is the Volvo 240.

Mine is the mk2 Cavalier.

So what's yours?

Mk2 Granada 2.8 injection with Recaros. Absolutely spot on.

Current shape Skoda Superb appears to be the same.

Remarkably, ford managed to keep it perfect for me from the mk3 cortina to the end of the sierra, and the mk3 granada/scorpio is very close.

"Roverised" (no Austin nomenclature) Montego /MG Montego post 89 (?). Actually, that whole car was perfect for me - reach to stalks/stereo/power window buttons which were on the centre console/pedals/gear lever/ right leg/sunroof switch.

Those cars handled well anyway, the fact that it "fitted" me so well meant that they were super-chuckable for me.

My lovely old S reg C240 ELEGANCE, spot on for a biggun like me. :D

A Bentley Arnage suits me perfectly!

Expensive taste is a bitch!

My 1982ish Granada was very comfortable, one of the few cars I didn't have to put the seat all the way back.

For bikes, my old Yamaha Super Tenere was perfectly suited for a tall bloke. I swear the only reason it didn't get nicked was none of the scrotes could reach the floor, or lift it off the sidestand 8)

I have no idea, but if I caught my chauffeur driving in such a slovenly manner he'd receive a very thorough thrashing from my walking cane. It's disrespectful to me, other road users, and the fine craftsmen who created the Berlingo. I won't stand for it.

- I would add that the XJ40 has a fantastic lasy barsteward wheel arrangement - no ten2two stalks here - the XJ40 stalks encourage you to keep your hands at twenty past five

mind you for one handed one finger driving - the window ledge to wheel on the 240 is ace - probably better on the 940 though as you can adjust rake etc which means you can get it to fit your arm length - but the steering is too interactive with the 940 - the wishy light steering of the 240 makes it more suitable for the 1 finger approach

Ford Falcon - although you would invariably lock the door when resting your arm

I found the 505 passed the test for me, and an imperceptible movement of the elbow would lock the doors, very useful in a taxi.

VW Type 3 with Audi 80 seats, the ones that height adjust. Perfect.

I cannot get comfy in a Fiesta, at least the 56-plate shape. Seat doesn't go far enough back at all, I feel like a little old woman crunched up against the wheel, waiting to be propelled through the rear window by the airbag.

I have that problem in about 90% of the Jap cars I've driven. Mk1 Primeras are the worst offenders, which is a shame because they drive well.

Late 'Classic' Range-Rovers are BOB-ON for single-digit relaxed driving (as long as there are not too many urgent changes in direction required).

One finger on the wheel, right elbow on the right armrest, left arm on the left armrest, preferably with a cigar on the go as you waft alon looking down on the PEASANTS you are forced to share the road with.

Just a shame that nice Vogue SE's are extinct now - they've all had their snow-ploughs removed, the suspension pumped up and massive tyres fitted, and had 8000 tonnes of mud ground into the lovely leather.

LOL, mine also got extincted, due to my friend being a bell-end.
