At the NEC we always stop by to take in the Wheeler Dealer's stage and to be honest I find Mike Brewer far less irritating and much more entertaining "live" !

I've been watching a few of the more recent ones on youtube, they are alright actually. It's nice to see a TV programme about old cars that isn't sneering and destructive.

Mike Brewer seems like a real enthusiast too, getting excited about a Triumph Stag and even celebrating and improving its original flawed engine.

He even got a bit too excited about an M-reg Land Rover Discovery.

Hmmmmmm. I know it wasn't a classic, or even shite, but it does seem that they took a nice standard WRX (and specifically raved about it not being messed around with) and, erm, messed around with it.

I doubt you need those brakes, and hence the wheels, for just 20bhp more than stock.

There will always be critics nik picking on things but that dont really matter when its good entertainment all in all about good cars :)

No, I agree it's good entertainment, I'd have turned it off if it wasn't. I'm just questioning his choice of "mods"..... basically, paint the stock wheels and fit new stock brakes and he'd have been at least £500 up. £600 without the stripes!

As an aside, how much effort was that clutch? Should have bought a Belmont instead.

Say all you like about Mike Brewer, I've just finished watching that Frontline battle machines that i had taped on sky + from the other night and I have great respect for the bloke now.

When he got shot at whilst up in the Chinnock after collecting the causalities from the frontline and having the pilot get shot in the head, I'd be in tears after too, Unbelievable heroism from our boys, I can't imagine many other TV presents coping under those conditions so well.

Here a small clip from youtube I've found of it, What you don't see is the after part where Brewer walks round the Chinnock just looking at all the peppered holes in it and breaking down under of sheer shock of it all, The pilot was very lucky too, the bullet rickashaded of his helmet and trough the roof.

I like Mike B, ok hes a bit of a "cockney geezer" but hes likeable and its good entertainment, its nice to see a show fixing up old cars not mocking and beating them up like TG! Not sure on the choice of the Scooby mind, a 9 year old WRX isnt my idea of classic (im not knocking Imprezzas) and there is plenty of other old snotters out there to have a go at first. They should have changed the clutch and discs for new stocks nes and sold it for £4000 and left it stock. Its a good job Edd doesnt charge labour though ey

Maybe we could compile a list of what to restore next and sent it? :D

Yeh, I'll second that. I watched this prog the other night and you wouldn't get me there for any amount of money. Muchos respect to Brewer for doing that and especially to the soldiers that are there.

That doesn't look to bad to my untrained eye, It's not as expensive as I'd expected it be punted out at.
