Corsa C combo ex BT Fleet. Dave's adventures in small van ownership.

Mostly because I'm a fucking idiot and have you many cars, I've decided to buy a small van.

My friend Rob recently got a van for work so this is now suprlus to requirements, it's got no MOT but he's basically done all the bits it's needed, just got a van for work so it's kind of in his way.

It's a very clean and tidy, 1.3cdti Corsa Combo, it's ex BT fleet, Robs done the oil every 6k in his ownership and also replaced all the brakes, ABS rings etc and chucked new headlights in last year.

Here are some pictures of it when he did the brakes.

He also put some paint on the crusty wheels

And yes, it's still limited to 70mph.. I'd like to know if this is fixable with a lead and some fuckery, or is this a bit more involved?.. any pointers?

I think leaving this absolutely stock as a rock, because one day soon there won't be any left, is probably the plan.

It's done fairly low miles for one of these (about 80k from memory)

still loads around west mids, royal mail still have quite a few 11 plates still on their fleet

That's how it goes.. loads around, they're everywhere, then before you  know it, none left. :D, invest in small vans.

Van appears to now have 12 months MOT.

Couple of advisories but they'll get addressed soon.

Getting the limiter off on most of these vans is a pretty easy task from memory.

I even think there's an option on my icarsoft thing to remove it? I'm sure I noticed when I was playing about with the Primastar.

I saw something about that last night when browsing youtube.

I'll have a look tomorrow, I..left it outside a mates flat after feeding her cats this morning. (She's been with her poorly son in Birmingham hospital since Christmas, bless her).

That roof needs a clean.

I didn't realise how much I'd miss having any form of rear windows.  Driving around last night, obviously you get people creeping up on you as you're observing legal speed limits, and tailgaters just vanish behind you, which isn't fun.  I'm also not used to reverse parking it, and this is the result.

Anyone tried one of those rear view cameras that air where the mirror would usually go?

I don't often drive mine, but get used to reversing it fairly quickly each time I'm using it for a few days.

Once you've had it for a while you probably won't even use the centre mirror when you're reversing one of your cars.

The express was without a centre mirror for three years, it was bemusing driving it with the mirror fitted again the other day

I'd rather see what's around me.

With a car it's really easy as you've got glass, but but with a van you're even more limited, so having as much view of the idiot who walks their toddler into the path of an on-coming reversing van and then claims it's your fault because you should have seen them, isn't my idea of a fun way to spend my time, so anything I can do to avoid that is absolutely worth my money.

Got one on the Boxer but (tbh) I only use it when hooking up a trailer as I'm used to working with just the side mirrors and using the centre mirror is just too much hassle for my engrained muscle memory. Bought this one just for the dashcam functionality really.

The side mirrors give me a much better view of the rear three-quarters than our camera in any case - it's got a crap field of view.
