The Jag is off to pastures new sooner than expected as something that I actually wanted came up at a price I just couldn’t turn down.
The only downside is that it’s effing miles away, hasn’t been on the road for a number of years and currently doesn’t run well.

So the plan for the weekend is to leave in about half an hour, home to pick up essentials, drop something at a work site on the way and battle the Friday evening traffic to pick up some car seats before 8pm. An overnight stay in a desirable* location, followed by picking up some more parts in the morning. Drop the Jag and then see if the new car can be made to run well enough to drive home on Sunday without needing the big yellow lorry.

How successful any of this will be is anyone’s guess!

Yes, you can fit a pair of Honda Legend seats in the back and a freezer in the front. IMG_4314.jpeg.61b73a09def4a30e96392b026e7d6065.jpeg

And yet that absolute rag 'What Car' left out essential information like that.

I reckon that's really a corpse in the back with various body parts being chilled down in the front.
You're en route to a Satanic Ritual?

Oh, wait. You are. 🤦‍♂️
Safe journey(s)

The collection of the seats was one of the more interesting parts collections I’ve made. I’ll just say it was in Keighley and leave it at that!

Now stopped for the night and the adventure continues tomorrow.

The dpd van blocking the road was certainly unexpected but lo and behold, we got the Matra running and driving rather quickly!

The cooling system turns out to be a bit of a problem child however, with one of the metal pipes having been rubbed through over the years. Nothing a bit of jb weld and a BMW hose clamp can't fix though!

The thermostat housing took a bit of a beating when attempting to extract a snapped bolt though so we'll see how that will affect the journey back tomorrow. Still plenty to do!

Not the petrol station shot I wanted to take, as it means I’m not driving the Matra back. The fuel pump seems to be on the way out, which added to the cooling system issues just meant that time ran out to be able to get home today.

So either it will get transported back or I’ll run back up with the trailer.

And with a final update its home, about 12 hours and a 600 miles round trip. Unloading can wait until tomorrow. IMG_4360.jpeg.7df5dddf8619b05ea2fa316ede9a449a.jpeg
